I've been having back problems from a few weeks ago when I jumped off a large rock. Right after that it didnt feel right, I thought it was just a torn back muscle that would heal on its own. I suspected a torn muscle because it felt pretty normal a few days later, for about a week and a half it was fine but few days ago I started more intense exercising and a few minutes after running I felt the pain come back but worse! and its been 2 days and it really hurts to sit, beathe, sleep and I can pin point the spot.

you could be having and appendicitis attack

it could be anything and you're not loosing anything by going, have them give you a CAT scan immediately

Please do not post medical advise if you have 0 medical training or background. You are correct that you've got nothing to lose by going to the hospital immediately, oh wait except for that $4,000 medical bill for the cat scans. Hey why not get an MRI while you're at it!

if you're in the UK it's free because of the NHS, so you never know, they might be british. You should never judge people before you know the facts x

I have had sharp pains in my right shoulder blade and rib cage (in the back). For days it has hurt to laugh, cough, and breathe. Last night the pain was so bad when I was breathing that I just walked into a chiripractor's office today. He heard my symptoms and immediately said it's scar tissue from slouching. I then told him that I'm a new mom and I am hunched over constantly, looking at the baby and breastfeeding. I thought he was a genius. He said he can break up the forming tissue and I should feel 80% better in 3 days. He said I'll need 3 visits max. I'm so glad I went to the chiropractor! Genius.

For a little over a month I've been having a lot of pain when taking a deep breath. It's in my right rib cage but in the back. It feels like that side won't expand all the way. I went to the dr and he listened and said if it's not better in 3 weeks to come back and he'll order an x-ray. It's been about a week and it's getting worse and worse. I've done everything I know to do. I've had a massage, I've been to the doctor, I've been sleeping on a heating pad. Now I'm really getting worried that it could be something serious. I'm usually pretty good with pain but I've been in tears 3 times already today. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I have been have the same persistant back pain and it ened up going from there and its now very server under neith my right rib, i dont know what to do about it.. its a stabbing pain that wont go away, it is not due to eattingh any fatty or greasy foods, the pain is so bad i can barely move, i cant cough, fart, sneeze, or even sleep ebcause its that bad it feels like im being stabbed.
I was at the doctors the other day and my blood came back for a pregnancy test as negative, but she said my liver was high.. and asked me how much i drink; im 16 i stopped drinking and even when i did it wasnt often or even alot.
im really worried and dont know what it is, im in so much pain right now ive been up all night, everytime i move i instanly start crying.. my brother gave me a t3 to ease the pain but even that didnt help at all.

I am 15 and I have a shooting pain in the left side upper back when I breath deeply. This happened over night and I haven't done anything recently that would cause a popped rib. I find it really strange that it first started happening when I was sleeping. It has gotten better as the day goes on and ibuprofen helped a lot. I can now walk around without a shooting pain. Based on these posts and other websites I think a rib popped. Thanks

Maybe 'guest' was in a country with free healthcare, so the CAT scan would have been free?

Sounds like you all need to see a good chiropractor.  I've had a rib out multiple times, and it feels like a stabbing pain in my back close to my spine, wraps around my side and sometimes hurts in the front /center of the rib cage.  There have been times where I felt I couldn't breathe.  All related to the spine alignment.  Good luck!

I have had pain in my back upper rib section for years - thought it was my shoulder.  Went to a chiro for the first ever time, he said I had a rib popped out and he has popped it back in twice in the last two months, I'm half way through my entire chiro treatement plan.  I'm so glad I went to a chiropractor.  I'm sure during the rehab portion he will teach me how to strengthen the muscles so it doesn't pop out anymore.  Who knew?

First you want to go to the hospital to make sure that your D-Dimer is not elevated. you could have a pulmonary embolism. if the pain is below the sholder blade and it worst with a deep breath. get to the ED. Especially if the pain moves and radiates to the arm or neck or jaw that could be heart related more prominate in woman....

I'm suffering with a right rib out just now. It feels as though the rib is poking the middle back muscle. The osteopath will fix me up tomorrow morning.
