Hi

My son is  5 years old, and from since when he was 3 1/2 years old he had severe cough when ever he eats. He would cough until he would threw up, and this continue until now, every doctor we would visit would diagnosed it as throat infection, and would give him medicine which would not work . the last doctor we took him to could not say what the problem was. For the pass 18 month we took him to over 8 different doctors and none have yet to come up with a solution.  Its worry me now he is afraid to eat cause he would throw up ,also he is under weight from not eating. so am asking for help dont know what else to do

Did any of these doctors recommended tonsillectomy as an option - that is usually the best treatment for recurring throat infections in children, when they already have been convinced it's the infection that is causing these problems? This is definitely lasting too long and it potentially develop into a serious eating disorder, not to mention malnutrition, so I think that besides ruling out all possible physical reasons as to why this cough is happening (did any of the chest x-rays or other exams show anything?), your son might benefit also from talking with child psychologist because it is not unusual at all that the has developed the fear of food and vomiting and there are easy therapeutic ways to help at least with the fear.

No they did not recommended  tonsillectomy as an option ,and yes a chest x-ray was perform using a special liquid which the machine would detect, to determine weather some of the the food would go down the wrong way.
