My daughter had bloody diarrhea for four days before she has been diagnosed with Shigellosis. It was really hard for me; I had to carry her to the bathroom. She was so weak. She is only 7 years old. It seems that she ate something dirty or with dirty hands. I lost a weight. She is so thin now. I’ve heard that Shigellosis can leave consequences on her. Please, tell me what the effects of Shigellosis are? I am worried mother.
Shigella is a germ that causes the infection called Shigellosis. It infects the cells of the lining of the large intestine. The Shigella invades and damages these cells, producing breaks in the mucous membrane lining the intestine. Shigella dysentery may lead to serious complications as: loss of appetite (anorexia), a low concentration of blood protein, anemia, and kidney damage…etc.
