Yes I had a blood test that showed VERY high liver enzymes, itchy lumps on scalp and many parts of my body, have been sleeping on a tempur mattress now for 11 months, very comfortable but if it is causing this problem I'll get rid of it.

Not being comfortable, but now i am going to make sure we go back to a teaditional mattress and not just a different style of tempurpedic! Thank You!

I bought the top of the line Tempurpedic one year ago. It had an insane chemical odor despite the fancy cover. It irritates my nose and lungs badly. I needed up unzipping the cover, turning on the fan and not sleeping on it "a few days". One month later, no improvement! Went on vacation, came back two wks later, it was still "off gasing". The smell finally decreased after several months. However, my allergies are killing me. I wake up with a cough every morning. BUT only when I sleep on my $8,000 bed! I'm so irritated! A friend bought a less expensive model, NO odor. But she said it's very hot even in the winter. I'm so sick of this thing making me sick! My son slept on it, same thing...morning cough, itchy eyes and throat. It has been YEAR of poisoning! Now I have to have someone haul it off! Such a huge waste of $$$$$.

3 nights without my foam mattress (because of blogs like this I starting putting the pieces together and have sleep in guest room with conventional mattress for 3 nights now). I bought the foam mattress which has been great for my back from Sam's club and foam pillow from where ever and tonight I want to cry from joy/relief? I have not been myself for so, so very long, began forgetting who I was and was having suicidal thougts. Tingling, burning skin, rashes in bad places, wanting to pull my hair out from itching and a lasitude, so not like my fun self.

Thanks to folks like you I began to put the pieces together. My GP told me to take more vitamins. Have learned to so appreciate the internet.

In response to the posts related to tempurpedic and other types of memory foam mattresses and pillows, the headaches and allergy-like symptoms are directly related to the chemicals in foam and are released into the air while you sleep. Many others have complained of similar symptons--waking up with bad headaches, aches in the joints--as well as more severe effects to the auto-immune system from the chemicals.

There are other, more natural products out there, such as natural latex, which are processed without the use of harmful chemicals. Search for organic mattresses and you will find a number of other, similarly expensive but healthier options.

Hello. For many years, I was in misery using memory foam. Every night, unless I am on allergy pill, I would itch. I woke unrested with muscle pain.

I was recently diagnosed with a chemical reaction to memory foam. The doctor I saw from NIH said it a chemical build up. I had reactions to mattresses, pillows, does and bras. I am amazed there is no warning label for the toxic chemicals on products and they are not required to tell you its in textiles.

I have had recurring back pain for many years, intermittently, however requiring hospitalization once for three days and countless mornings that my hundred pound body could hardly get out of bed. I researched for months and months on back pain and relief of back pain. I finally fell upon an article about the overly limber hip region combined with a strong core and back contributing to chronic lower back pain in the waking hours. The study suggested back sleep with a lumbar support pillow and a knee support roll pillow. I ordered a latex set of these ($100+) and within the first two weeks I woke with what appeared to be trailed of bites. I was convinced I had bed bugs. (Also, my home is spotless and minimalist. I'm a clean freak and have travelled the world for years). I literally STRIPPED my entire master bedroom(kids had no signs), treated emitted room as if I had some sort of bug infestation lol. Then I realized it could be the pillows. I there then out and I am telling you: they were the culprit. I googled it and your thread came up. Never again. I'll use my down pillows under my back and knees. Thank you for your post!!!

IF you develop problems with your Tempurpedic mattress contact the store you purchased it from to see if you can exchange it for a non-foam mattress of another brand. We have now owned our Tempurpedic for just under two years and have had major issues. Like many other owners my husband has developed severe itching and extreme skin sensitivities, while my limbs (hips, shoulder, hands, etc) were going numb every night-to the extent I was waking up at night to shake out my hands to get feeling back in them. We finally broke down and bought an off-brand topper for the mattress which eliminated our body parts from going numb, but we still have the other skin and allergy issues. Neither one of us had any of these problems prior to our new mattress and we are both in our 30s. I will never buy a foam mattress again.

Iv just started coming out in lumps on the lower part of my back (the only part of my skin exposed as i wear socks in bed on wonter,) after a week of sleeping on a yannis latex topper.

PS continued... i thought it maybe the purotex topper cover, wich is said to contain safe bacteria in capsules that break and release this over time, these supposedly eat bad bacteria so stop them spreadin g and smelling, so i removed it 15 mins ago. However since reading these posts i am not going to risk it and hav removed the entire topper.
.
This yannis topper is suspicious anyway, the 1st one they sent didnt match the description and slept hot so cant hav been real dunlop latex, so they replaced it. This one appears to be as described accept its 4cm not 5cm thick so another con. And it had this biological casing wich i didnt want. Its been a nightmare trying to get a decent bed, iv moved flat a lot in d past and never had any problems with whatever old spring matresses happened to be there. These modern beds r c**p, and expensive, and bad for health.

I bought two memory foam pillows, thinking they would help me sleep better. Since then, I developed a rash on my cheeks and chin. I've never had a problem with acne, so I thought maybe, it was because of my age. I recently turned 47. Anyway, I got a facial, hoping my skin issue would be solved. The lady who gave me my facial said it wasn't acne.
After a month of this embarrassing acne-looking issue, a lightbulb went off, and I threw my memory foam pillows on the ground, tonight. I began researching whether anyone else had a problem. This is the only thing that has changed for me. I'm hoping my skin issue goes away. After reading the other posts, I'm throwing the pillows away, immediately! I'm hoping my face is better, in the morning. Ugh

It's sad to see so many people having these issues. I don't have a clue of what to do. I have had a tempurpedic mattress for nine months now. My entire back broke out in small red bumps almost immediately after I started sleeping in the bed. I've tried mattress covers/protectors thinking the barrier would make a difference, but it hasn't. I'm still having these symptoms 9 months later I contacted the store and they said they ever heard of this, and suggested it was something else (e.g. Detergent, lotion. etc). I've always had sensitive skin, but I've never broken out so badly. I'm not sure what to do now, since it's past the date that the bed can be returned, and it is very expensive.
