I have to share that I had very similiar issues after buying memory foam pillows and mattress toppers. It started with dryness under my eyes which progressed to swollen bags, eczema like dry patches on my face and hives on my neck. My skin felt likke it was burning and only got better after i got rid of the pillows but it ook a few weeks before it cleared up.

I thought the pillow was my only problem until I stopped travelling and slept on the new topper for several days. I started waking up with significant body aches, hedches and other symptoms that I thought were the flu. Eventually I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I decided fter doing some research online and took the topper off my bed. Symptoms are improving now thank goodness. Sonwas the pneumonia brought on by respiratory issues and/or reaction to memory foam as I have read, not positive but I know it made me feel and look horrible. Proceed with caution if you decide to purchase.

Yes that happened to me exactly after switching to memory foam.. get rid of it and use Aveeno Eczema moisturing cream to help you get back to normal.

I had a cool gel/ foam pillow for over 2 years. Just in December started with itching and rash- doctor gave me all sorts of creams - nothing worked - as the itching seemed to ease by day and only started through night , I went and bought a new plain pillow.......voila ......itching and rash gone

How long did it take for it to clear up?
I’ve had swollen, burning, red eyes every morning for the past week and nothing is bringing it down or relieving it. I’ve suffered with this before but couldn’t figure out why it went away and has now come back. I’m putting it down to the hot temp. and sleeping on my memory foam mattress so I’ve got anew mattress now but this morning nothing has changed (I’m still jut as swollen) was wondering how long your rash took to clear up?

We purchased a gel foam mattress at the end of last year. In February I began getting rashes in places that come into contact with the mattress. Until reading this today (4 months after the initial rash) I thought about the mattress, but forgot, concentrating on food, medicine allergies, etc. I am now covered in hives. Some itchy, some not, but constantly spreading. Tomorrow will be my 5th doctors appt. (they can't figure it out, either). I have spent hundreds of dollars on prescription creams and ointments. The bed GOES.

I have been battling for my life for the last 15 months with constant itching, nearly suicidal, cant sleep, on tons of medication ect. Spent thousands on doctors, even went to the University Of Michigan Dermatology (best on there is). Nobody can figure out this itching, no rash, head feels like I have ants crawling on my all night, body is insane with itching. Steroids and Antihistimes cant touch this. I changed my diet tons of time, to the point of starving myself thinking I had a food allergy. I spent nearly $3000 on docs and tests and products, plus missed work because I couldn't sleep.

Just made the realization I bought the bed in October '16, made my first dermatology appointment in December of the same year 2016.

Finally, went to my brothers and slept in his extra bed, things started getting better. Came back home and I am sleeping in my spare room on my old bed.

I am so happy but made at these bed manufacturers. Do you think I can get my $1500 back after 1.5 years? Email me if you had success of getting a refund after that amount of time. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of private information such as name, phone number or email address is not allowed in order to protect your privacy*** Please read our Terms of Use

Same here. Tried to get my money back after realizing that my full body rash is from the gel mattress I purchased back in August of 17. My hives began in February and it was only this week that I was able to connect the dots. I called the company that I bought the bed from and they told me that it's been too long. I responded to their email regarding the irresponsible use of chemicals and got an email back saying that their child has a reaction to formaldehyde and instead of getting mad at the manufacturers they just changed the things they bought for their child. Completely inappropriate response. I am angry not only at the manufacture of mattresses that are killing us, I am furious at the response I received. Good luck to you.

We are going through the same right now, one suggestion given to us was to put the matress back into the plastic bag it came in? Luckily we still have it so may give it a try.

I'm going to repond to the mattress company when I can be a bit more objective. I've reasearched class action lawsuits with TempurPedic. They all know the health risks and don't care. I'm going to start reviewing this mattress company and see if they'll consider refunding. Now I'm now needing to buy an organic mattress. There seem 2 be 2 really worth looking at.l

I’m so sorry that all of you were going through all of this. I too went through a severe allergic reaction that lasted for over three months from a memory foam pillow. It took me 10 days before I developed a sinus infection and pnemonia besides severe hives and truly wanted to die. I was laying on this pillow 23 hours a day because of my pneumonia and sinus infection and the longer I laid on at the sicker I got. When I finally realized what it was from I started googling it and contacted a research institute in Texas as well in regards to how highly toxic memory foam and polyurethane is. The famous MyPillow on TV is highly toxic. These products are made from pure highly toxic chemicals and no matter how long you air these items out they will never get rid of the toxic chemicals. I went to the emergency room three times because I couldn’t breathe and now I have to carry the EpiPen everywhere I go. Memory foam bedding and pillows as well as polyurethane bedding that we sleep on all night long is killing people in many, many ways. People need to get back to the old-school bedding with the least amount of chemicals on it.

I just want to add that not a single doctor was shocked when I told them that it was a memory foam pillow that I had been sleeping on and was getting sick from.
They all told me that those things are highly toxic.
As I read and researched online further it messes up our whole endocrine system and causes many issues. My uncle who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 10 years ago also purchased himself a Tempur-pedic bed not long before he had come down with the Parkinson’s as well as my aunt who sleeps on a Tempur-pedic bed also has constant sinus infections ever since she’s on the bed and they barely made the connection after I came down with my severe allergic reaction.
We should not be putting sick people on these beds as well as our children with ADD, autism, asthma, depression, cancer, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and EVERTHING ELSE.
NO ONE SHOULD BE EXPOSED to MEMORY FOAM or the MY PILLOW on TV without proper knowledge of what they are being exposed to abd the dangers of it.
I consider myself LUCKY that my body went into PROTECTION mode and told me I was being exposed to bad Chemicals.
I just wished I would’ve figured it out sooner than later.

David I would love to know the outcome of all this. This is my exact f*****g story. As I sit here with chronic hives in another bedroom in my house on a different bed. It's been ten years I have owned my tempurpedic. I have always been an allergy mess but now wonder if my ever growing nose issues was in part due to that bed. For the past three months I have insane chronic hives that turned into welts, burn itch you name it. My lip swelled once and my eye swelled. All landed me at urgent care, an allergist, my primary, soon to be dermatologist... Tons of blood work, lots of pred injections and pred pills. Scratch tests. Autoimmune searching, lupus.... Nothing. Elevated c reactive protien.... Which happens when you have hives so meh. I'm still searching the world for the answer.... My eye is on the f*****g bed. The hives become mean and nasty overnight, every time. I went away out of state slept on other beds after a pred Injection... Fine... Came back one night.... Covered... Back to the er for cortisone which should have lasted weeks.... Nope.... Three damn days... I finally lost it and slept at my mother in laws for two night. They finally started to calm down.

Reading all these stories I want to throw my bed out the window office space style. We are ordering a new bed tomorrow, not tempurpedic. But I still want solid answers.... I want to take some bed foam to be tested. I want to know what else you found if you were able to have the test.

I recently bought a tempurpedic memory foam matress and within a week i suffed from a full body breakout of hives rendering me unable to sleep at all. I have never been allergic to anything before and was confused as to what could have been causing my breakout. It would clear during the day but the hives would creep back in the evening while i was in my room. I believe the offgassing of my new matress was causing the problem cause the only thing new in my life was the matress. The new matress did give off an unatural odor. After reading this thread, i took my matress out of my room and aired it out. The hives seemed not come back. Im sleeping on the floor for now. Going to give it a few days to see if i breakout again but it seems like i was reacting to the offgassing.

Again, the only new thing in ny life these last 2 weeks is the matress.

Can you please let me know how you treated the rash and did it go away after you stopped using the pillow?

The same thing is happening to me. Big red hives and itching. I already had a memory foam mattress (for about 8 years) with no problems. I just bought the bed topper and have been sick every since. Thanks for your report.
