I have had SEVERE rashes and allergic reactions to my foam mattress. I feel as though I've been through a horizontal planer and been sandpapered afterwards. I'll be tossing this mattress out and getting a new old fashioned inner-spring one. Excuse me ---

I have to scratch my back - again.

You can take your mattress back and get a full refund......I did.

See Freedayz on page 5.....I had my mattresss for 6-7 months before I figured out what was causing my rash and severe itching. Temperpedic was very accomadating and I received a full refund in a weeks time. If the store won't cooperate, go to the temperpedic site and talk to them.

I lost my Tempur in December 2011, after going through a series of months-long weird body symptoms, then replaced my mattress with a Japanese futon made of 90% cotton and 10% polyester, which is working out great.  I purged so much stuff out of my house at that time -- all of my bedroom furniture, my bedding, pillows, TempurPedic pillows, mattress cover, anything associated with the TempurPedic.  Starting in February or March 2012 my body developed serious itching and hives, which I'm now working through.  I'm 99% sure this is all stored-up toxins working their way out of my body.

I'm keeping track of stuff, posting recipes about food I can eat that don't make me break out -- I've gone on the "elimination diet," which has helped tremendously -- and telling my ongoing story on my blog here:  http://drstrangeitch.wordpress.com/

We bought our Tempurpedic as a discontinued floor model so there was no odor at all to it. We have had it eight years now and I absolutely love it and sleep wonderfully on it. We have bought different versions of other memory foam mattress toppers and mattresses for our children and they all do fine on it except one daughter who is very allergic to the other memory foam products. She seems to do just fine when she is on our bed (genuine Tempurpedic) however. Recently though, my husband is having allergy problems whenever he is in our room. He thinks he is becoming allergic to the bed which seems weird to me after all these years. I don't know what to do though because it has been the best bed ever and I surely do not want to part with it. What if we do, and then it ends up he was allergic to something else?

I had two tempurpedic mattresses that caused intense itching. We purchased a third mattress, but discovered that it too had memory foam and I am still itching three mattresses later. I understand all the new mattresses have some memory foam and the natural ones are made from latex. Latex allergies become progressively worse. I may end up sleeping on the floor to get a good night sleep before I go broke.

We purchased a Tempurpedic bed in February, and two weeks later I had the worst rash I have ever seen. It covered most of my body and was disfiguring and horribly itchy. Thankfully it never developed on my face! The symptoms were so bad I thought I would go out of my mind scratching. I had at least 5 visits to the doctor and many misdiagnoses and wrong prescriptions before I finally had a punch biopsy that revealed my problem was a contact allergy. I had found a number of other people online who described similar conditions related to the Tempurpedic bed. Fortunately, the furniture dealer where we bought the bed worked with us to get us a new non-memory foam bed (delivered that same day!). My rash began to clear immediately. I still have discoloration marks on my arms that are still visible to me. My doctor says they will go away in time, but this could be a year or more. I'm just glad that the ordeal is over, and I hope others out there who experience the same problem will find this forum and know they are not alone!

I have had hive like rashes for a while now and it just hit me tonight that it could be the 3" memory foam pad I had bought for the bed. I came and googled it and got this page. I just made the bed up with complete new linen, right over the mattress pad. I will now be stripping that off tonight and trying the bed without the pad for a few weeks to see if the symptoms go away. Thanks so much for posting this.

This is amazing.  I feel really bad because I chose our mattress and ruined the last 6 years of our lives.  Mine wasn't a famous brand named one.  It had the usual sales patter about being as good as branded products twice the price. The mattress was described as hypoallergenic and never had any smell that I could notice.  My husband says it did smell initially and he left it out in the conservatory for a few days. I don't remember that but it doesn't smell now.  Anyway around that time or sometime afterwards my husband developed the most horrendous skin rash - lumpy blotches that itched like mad - then he scratched them raw and bled on the sheets and pillows.  I dreaded doing the laundry.  Nightmare scenario all round.  I didn't connect it with the mattress because we had been building and thought it was maybe caused by the cement dust.  He has been to doctors and skin specialists who just say "Ah, yes, Eczema, can't be cured, just use this cream to ease the itch".
My husband began to have severe dizzy spells and fainted a few times.  We explored holistic dentistry and he got three root canal fillings removed and had intravenous detox. That certainly helped and we don't regret it, but we eventually began to link his problems to the mattress when he repeatedly got an urge to get out of the bed - then he would go to the spare room and sleep better.  Then he slept there for a few nights and the itch eased off.  Recently another apparently more trustworthy bed company referred me to this and other websites.  Now we are getting rid of the cursed thing and getting one stuffed with wool and horse hair.  Why I didn't do that initially I do not know as I am the biggest cynic on this earth about modern stuff.
Apparently NASA invented this stuff, then decided they wouldn't use it because it was too expensive.  When was anything too expensive for NASA?

I bought, a fairly expensive Temp. memory foam pillow as well and seriously for at least two month I have been wondering what I was doing to make my face so itchy then two weeks ago, it started to get worse I am now getting blotchy red spots on my face then I realized this all started happening when I got my pillow! I am so mad then last night I slept with a towel (well two towels) over my pillow so my face didn't touch the actual pillow, my face is still irritated but it wasn't a renewed irritation this morning.

I am a sufferer of this mattress and have been for a long time now. I have headaches so violently that my head feels like it wants to explode and I must get out of bed and sit upright and take sumatriptan to ease the headache. As if this wasn't enough I now have a very very itchy rash in various spots on my face and body that I treat with steriods. A stuffy nose and a cough along with nausea and achy joints. I feel like I am 100 yrs old when I first get out of bed. I have been to every kind of dr.to ck out these symptoms and to no avail. Just recently I began to sleep in another room only because my husband like to keep the t.v. on and I like it quiet and dark. I began to feel better in the other room but the itch is still there. Up until this time I did not ever suspect my mattress. Just talking to a friend she told of an experience her friend had had with th tempurpedic and it sounded so similar to my situation that I moved back into the room with the tempurpedic for a night. Around 2 am I awoke with a nauseating headache, stuffy nose and the itch was driving me crazy. It is at this point that I am convinced that this mattress is the culprit. We need to get a class action lawsuit started against the mattress manufacturer .I
