Incredible! I have been sleeping on my bed for 4 months about and now for the last few weeks been waking up with a hive like rash. It started small with a few on my hips and arms, I thought I had bites, so I changed the sheets, look at the mattress and cleaned. Then it started to get worse. I would wake up with huge itchy raised welts on my back, hips, legs, shoulders and armI. It was so bad last night I moved to the couch. for whatever reasons that everyone else is experiencing, I too have the same. I am allergic to memory foam.

Thank you for all your responses and comments here. I did the same as Debbie. Even changed my washing powder when my memory foam mattress padding gave me a similar reaction. Thought I had prickly heat but the medicated powder did not help. Antihistamines and Layering it with other padding helped but beats the purpose. Especially for something that stinks that bad and needs to be aired out can't be a good for you either. The instructions are inside the pack and not on the outside. Wish I had searched the reviews first.

It has been 8 months since I got rid of my Tempurpedic bed. Horrible rash when sleeping on the bed--like most everyone else here. The rash went away fairly quickly, but my skin is still 8 months later marked by small dark discolorations. It looks awful and may never go away. On top of it all, we had purchased a Tempurpedic platform to place the bed on. That was NOT returnable, cost us $500 and does not fit the mattress we replaced the Tempurpedic with. On top of all that, I'm still paying off the 100s of dollars in medical bills that we spent testing me to see what was wrong and TREATING THE WRONG PROBLEMS over and over again.

Hello! I need to talk to you more about this issue. Actually, I happen to be living in China and the beds here are hard like sleeping on wood slats. So we bought what we thought was a pretty expensive memory foam and we thought our sleep was cured. It was super comfortable and actually never had an odor. I had a terrycloth type mattress cover over it. Anyways, the week we bought it, we had also moved into a new apartment. I instantly had severe asthma every night but I assumed it was to cleaning the apartment with chemicals and whipping up dust while unpacking. This continued for months and suddenly about 7 months later oddly, I started with the hives. Non-stop break outs all over my face & body. Again, I was assuming that it was something in the apartment. So I had to go home to the US to see the doctors. The first week I got home, I took Advil for a headache. I've taken Advil for years with no issues. Suddenly I had an anaphylactic shock reaction. Because I was staying at someone's house and this happened at 3 am I didn't want to to the emergency room. So I took Benadryl which at least allowed me to breathe. My face did not go down until 2 days later!! The doctor said my immune system was shot and something was triggering the hives/angiodema and at this point my body is just about allergic to everything. Well I was in the US for 2 months resting and recovering and I felt ok otherwise. I was put on Claritin for 1 year to reset my body. Well, just 2 days of being back in China, going back to sleeping on the memory foam, I have had asthma attacks non-stop and bronchitis now for 27 days. I have also had recurring horrible yeast infections. I just saw your post and removed the foam and started washing everything. Questions, did you all fully recover? I see that your post is not current. Did you have to throw out all the bedding/pillows, or did you just wash? This is such a pain because if I have to throw everything out and buy all new, we are not even sure if we can even continue living in this country... but we will buy new stuff if we have to for health's sake of course.

Hello Marrissa and everyone else reading this. I have a memory foam topper, not a tempuredic mattress. I just took it off the bed, but did all of you throw everything out (comforter, sheets, mattress pad, pillows, etc) or did you just wash everything? I washed as much stuff as I could but unfortunately I am not living in the US now so the washing machines are small! Please let me know how you went about curing yourselves!! Thank you

IF YOU HAVE ANY TYPE OF MEMORY FOAM PILLOW, MATTRESS TOP OR FULL ON MEMORY FOAM BED IT WILL MAKE YOU SICK!
I have spent more money on Doctors, pills, creams. tests and trying to convince everyone I was not crazy because of the illnesses that I
got from this bed and pillows. It started with itching, hives, rash and swollen face and neck to the point my throat was closing up.
I also had headaches, body and neck pain, stiff joints, swollen feet and hands, swollen trigger finger, ringing in my ears, dry skin and major respitory problems including thrush on my tongue and being dianosed with reversible ischemia.
I was then diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was put on synthroid. At the same time I was diagnosed I also changed my bedding because I still believed the memory foam pillow top and pillow had something to do with it. My husband didn't believe it even thou he had broke out in hives and his lips had swelled up a few time over a course of one year. He thought it was from working outside and having reactions to bug bites he would get while working in woody areas.
Once I removed them from my bed my symptoms started to gradually go away. I was never sure if it was from my thyroid meds or removing the bedding that helped me get back to normal.............until now.
My daughter loved the feel of the pillow top we had and wanted one put on her new queen bed a year after all this happened to me.
I guess the memory of my problems had faded so I bought her one for her birthday, she has broke out in light hives a few times over the last 4 months but I did not think anything of it and benadryl quickly took care of it. Well 2 weeks ago she was all congested and it ended up that she had an over growth of candida (yeast) in her throat and a bacterial infection.
The Proof: 3 nights ago my 13 year old daughter walked into our bedroom crying, I turned on the light and she was LOADED with red welts all over her neck and entire torso and feet! She was itching and gasping for air...freaking out. I immediatly gave her Benadryl and got her in the shower and scrubbed her from head to toe, with in 22 minutes the hives subsided and she was fine. Needless to day she slept with me that night and I stripped her entire bed, threw everything out and cleaned her room from head to toe and bought all new bedding with everything being made in the US (which was very hard to find). The clencher was last night. She found her little black cat stuffed animal that I forgot had been sitting on her bed daily and she kissed it...20 minutes later her lip was swelled up like a balloon! The cat was last to go but confirmed the memory foam from china had made us all sick!
Note: We live in a beautiful, clean home and have always eaten only organic non processed foods so we are 200% convinced that these high priced piece's of garbage memory foam made our family very ill. I washed all of my bedding but bought new pillows. I did fully recover--except for the marks on my skin that are the result of a horrible rash. I initially had an abnormal pap smear, and my doctor thinks this was the result of my body going "haywire" from the Tempurpedic bed. Upon recheck 3 months later, everything was normal. I do know that exposure of this type can lead to hypersensitivity to other potential allergens and even things that one might not have been allergic to before. Good luck!

I need to know this as well! I also bought the memory foam topper too and I have broken out in a crazy rash all over my chest, back, neck, belly, and spots on my legs and arms. At first, I thought it was ringworm...but then when I woke up in the middle of the night, I was trying to think of anything different that I had put in my apartment. I realized it could be the memory foam so I took it off. I will be washing my bedding soon just to be on the safe side. I only had the memory foam on my bed for less than a week and had this crazy reaction!

Hello, I packed up the memory foam and washed all the bedding. However I didn't throw out the pillows. I have pillow protectors and pillow cases so I figured washing them would be enough. The doctor prescribed me Claritin for one year to reset my system. I have been taking it for over 3 months now. I purposely didn't it take it for a day to see if my system was fixed and I felt my lip wanting to grow and I did break out in a rash again. Guess it's still there?? Frustrating thing is... I can't buy all new bedding for I most likely am moving out of China and back to the US in the next month because I have been so sick here. So... I will just have to be patient. What a pain!!

I am so thankful to have the blog from which to read above. I bought a tempur pedic pillow in December 2012. I didn't realize it at first, but I started to have major sinus problems, itchy, red and constantly tearing eyes. I also had bought some Moroccan Oil around the same time, which later learned exacerbated the issues. I got rid of the oil, and symptoms improved, but there was something else, but I just couldn't determine what it was. I loved the new pillow and how it felt and supported my neck. I thought I would get some more restful sleep with it. However, the sinuses, that just wouldn't clear, and runny nose didn't exactly support a good night sleep. After buying a load of Costco kleenex and having them spread around the house due to the allergies, the cause was still a mystery. I have dust and dog allergies, and my house is not exactly dust free, but it's been like that typically without this sort of reaction. I spoke with a colleague today, and she was having similar issues as I was. In conversation, we both realized that we bought new tempur pedic pillows and the symptoms really started then. I couldn't wait to get home to sequester the pillow in a garbage bag, clean all of the bed linens, air the room out, in mid-winter no less, then take a shower. After the shower, I can already feel a sense of relief in the sinuses. It's not completely over, but a step up. I'll see how it goes tonight in sleeping, but I'm feeling a bit hopeful now after such a mystery. I will think twice to buy something like this. Like one of the blogger's said, I didn't realize I had to analyze what the pillow was made of so thoroughly before buying. I may try the anti-allergy cover, but at this point, I'm just glad to breathe through my sinuses again and not to have to wipe my tears constantly. It was so expensive, too!

I am thankful to have found this site, although frightened and outraged at the same time! I have slept on this Tempurpedic for 6 years and have experienced ithching with unbearable burning ever since. This past week, I have developed shortness of breath and felt like I have some pressure on my chest. I talked to the doctor a few months ago about the itching/burning and have had a full exam but thankfully bloodwork was okay. I am very worried about hidden and future health risks. I have thought it was because I was overly tired or psychosomatic but am now convinced it is the poisoness mattress. I am in bed right now feeling I have been overtaken with fireants and must take a Benadryl. This is happening more and more frequently. Now about three times a week. I have no other place to sleep and am freaking out that my son has slept in this bed and in the room with me on and off since he was born-and the whole time he was a baby. I have listed this mattress on Craigslist feeling guilty about selling it. I do need the money to buy anything new to sleep on. Hopefully the Lord will protect us all from severe and long term problems. Would be willing to join a class-action suit as well if anyone knows of one. Read about off-gasing and other toxins. I didn't know about this until recently. We can be affected in three ways; ingesting, breathing and putting chemicals on our skin (yes, lotion made from non-natural ingredients counts). So scary! Can't wait to get this once beloved mattress out for good! Any ideas on what to replace it with?

Why would you sleep on something for 6 years and not find out what was wrong????? Again, everyone is talking class action suit...no problem returning my tempurpedic and got a full refund...did it myslef...no attorneys, just a phone call...I think some people like to complain as they have nothing better to do!!!!

I purchased a new tempurpedic cloud supreme matress last summer. A couple of months later both elbows started hurting. I had been moving some office furniture at my business and associated the "Golfers Elbow" to the lifting. It has been 8 months and I have had multiple cortison shots in both elbows. I always that it was odd that I had the exact same pain in both arms. I noticed the pain was always the worst right when I woke up in the morning. My elbows felt like they were tearing when I straightened them out. I am actually going through Platelet Enriched Plasma therapy on my right elbow for the pain. I decided to search the internet today to see if other people had been complaining about elbow pain with this mattress and was amazed to find so many people having the same problems that I do. I will be sleeping in the guest room and taking a round of anti-inflammatory to see if the problems clear up. I will let you know what I discover. I truly believe that the mattress is the cause of my problems.
