I feel all of your pain. I recently quit 6 days ago after three months of smoking (very) regularly. The withdrawal symptoms of quitting Cannabis has been harder for me than any prescription drug. (go figure) I was given a few sleeping pills and a benzo to relax me but I ran out already so I'm really worried now. Before that, I was shaking, my mind was racing and I felt I was going crazy because of that, sweaty palms, tension headaches, and NO sleep. I went up to three days without sleeping before I was given the sleeping pills and it was one of the worst things I had gone through. Like I said this has been worse for me than getting off of a prescription pills. I was smoking cannabis from a dispensary and I don't understand why they don't have warning labels about this? Cannabis is really great for people who truly need it. I don't want to talk down about it but it's definitely not for everyone. I cannot wait to sleep on my own again. I've also been working out to get the THC out of my body and working up a real sweat and drinking tons of water. Best of luck to all of you!

Where do you get am ounce for 50 pounds? Surely not in london! Nyways nice thread. I can identify with lots. I think its mostly a question of time. I've been smoking MJ on and off since I was 18 or 19. It's a complex topic but lets not kid ourselves, there are withdrawal consequences (although delayed) and its not all good. Thanks.

PS: After reading this thread I believe that it's maybe better to learn to re-think, temper, control and reduce weed consumption than quitting.

I'm going through this right now. I've been a stoner for close to 20 years and I'm trying hard to quit smoking weed. But the sleeplessness is driving me crazy. I can't think clearly, or respond to people in an appropriate way and I have the shortest fuse right now - the slightest little thing makes me really angry. All I wanna do is light up a joint or two and I know I'll wake up tomorrow morning feeling alive again and not be a shell of a man like I am right now. The insomnia caused by smoking strong weed is rediculous and so ironic as it's prescribed to treat insomnia. i just want to fall asleep, hell, i'll even take a night full of nightmares right now.

Actually, it's probably the best drug choice out there (if you even call it a drug..) Try finding some strains with more CBD than THC and you won't feel like a stoner. Less munchies, brain fog, forgetfulness, etc. just my advice. This would be considered a medical strain. Something for after work, to help with stress (which will kill your brain faster than many other things; look up: oxidative stress). Just my 2 cents. coffee, cigarettes, and or alcohol will ruin your brain and body, among other things. Recent studies show it prevents diseases like dementia, Alzheimer's, and much more.

Get up every 15 minutes you can’t sleep and do something non stimulating (ie no electronics) Read a little bit of a book, get a glass of water, grab a snack, even just walk around your living room or go sit in a chair. After a few minutes, lay back down and try again. Repeat. I got this advice from a sleep hygienist. Continuing to lay down and toss and turn and get increasingly frustrated is a huge blockage to getting to sleep.

Hi I smoked for 15yrs addiction and drug seeking behavior has always been a problem for me. So I went to rehab was tough but after the month I felt great excercise clear thoughts and proper sleep gave me unparalleled benefits. But after 4 months I said one couldn't hurt. I continued to smoke on and off until I was completely hooked again in my 300 a week habit. Since I've quit again sleeping has been a nightmare. Is there anything that helps? No sleeping tablets.
