I few years ago I noticed a small pea sized bump underneath the clitoris. It is probably several centimeters underneath the skin and hurts to touch but cannot be seen unless the skin above it is moved to the side. I had it checked out by my gyno and even she was having trouble finding it. She said since it is so far under the skin, getting scans of it would be really difficult, let alone surgery to have it removed. But she said I had no STDs or anything and it's probably benign and would go away in its own. Well it has been 3 years and it is now like small grape sized and much more painful than it used to be. I hurts even when I'm just sitting or standing around. Like the nerves around it radiate in pain, it's terrible. But not all the time, it comes in goes in waves. Does anyone know what this is or if it's even worth getting someone to look at it? I really want it to go away because it's hard to be intimate with someone when the slightest wrong move will cause a shockwave of pain and it's practically invisible.
Hi.
It is difficult to determine the cause of a cyst without a proper medical examination. However, a cyst underneath and to the left of the clitoris could be a Bartholin's cyst or a Skene's gland cyst.
Bartholin's cysts are located on either side of the vaginal opening and are caused by a blockage in the Bartholin's glands, which produce a lubricating fluid. Skene's gland cysts are also located near the clitoris and can be caused by an obstruction in the Skene's glands, which also produce a lubricating fluid.
Both types of cysts are usually benign and may not cause any symptoms, but they can become infected and cause pain, discomfort, and swelling.
Have you got it checked?
