Cannabis, as an herb that enhances your senses through the cannabinoid receptors, "turns up" the mood that you are currently in.
It is for this reason that socially anxious people like you and me can sometimes get anxiety attacks from it. This is also why over-confident virulent teenage boys have fits of hysteria and cause trouble in class when they smoke it.
But listen son, I've been consuming cannabis for half a decade and the anxiety attacks, 100% of the time, coincide with the times when I am already down and feeling insecure about myself.
Unfortunately your friends do not have the experience to know all of this. 5 bong rips is more than I would do on a heavy day. I feel confident in guessing that you get a generally confident impression from your weed smoking friends.
You're not going to go far in life neglecting your cannabinoid receptors. You may start a business and make a bunch of money but you will not be rich in any other way.
Do some research. because there is a 10,000 year long symbiotic relationship between our species which you cannot ignore.

Hello Cody, I dont think you understand our problem here. This is not an anxiety attack, it's some kind of neurulogical symtoms that express themself under the influence of some drugs. I have got the symtoms using weed, mushrooms, buprenorphine, but I dont use other drugs then weed nowardays, so weed is the common source for my symtoms. I get these sensations when sober to, but much less expressed. It's not the common "elevated" senses and perception one gets from smoking weed, it's similar to one kind of Sensory Neuropathy, where the tactile senses are numbed and at the same time exaggerated to the degree that touching things with hands or legs feels like putting your hands in some electric source, wich is very unconfortable. It borders being unable to feel at all, cause all sensory input feels like a sparking electricity that is numb and unspecific, making it hard to even navigate, sit up from a sofa or button your pants, you cant feel specific sensory input, just a blunt buzzing that is almost unbearable.. I dont know any weedsmoking friends that get these sensations, and i dont always get them, but sometimes i just have to smoke like 0,05g of hash to make the symtoms appear. I can be totaly calm, sitting down, when the symtoms linger, still being able to provoke them by touching things with my hands, not having any panic or anything.
And, I dont believe in the symbiotic theory, our endocannabinoids is developed in our bodies, exocannabiniods just happen to fit in our receptors, just like other substances like opiates and such, that fit other receptors.
Peace out.

Generally speaking...
Strength of cannabis(products)
Cannabis is found with THC levels of:
0,5 outdoorgrown hemp for fibre
3,0-8,0 for outdoorgrown hemp
7,5-17% indoor grown
10-25% hydroponics boosted indoor grown
20-70% for resin,
70-96% for hash-oil
The Dutch governement has classefied all plants having more than 15% THC in the flowers as being a harddrug (as is hash-oil).
This as more information suggest there are physical side-effects regarding THC-withdrawal. All resin and plants continue to be sold as before.
Female plants make MORE THC, but next to thc there is cannabidiol (CBD) which also contibutes to the high. Nowadays in a lot of countries THC is so important the plants are selected only on THC values, but the CBD content is dropping (CBD is also more related to the medical side. CBD and THC are examples of2 of the hunderds of cannabinol-variants
flowers are dried to create herbal cannabis (AKA pot, weed, mariuhana)
Flowers are rubbed with the hands or sifted with a fine sif, creating a layer of pollen and resin creating a black or brown resin (AKA hash)
This resin can be extracted with alcohol, and afterwards the alcohol, butane, tri (depending on the solvent this can be dangerous, methanol for example is also used) is vaporised leaving resin extract (AKA hash-oil)
flowers can also be frozen, the thc crystals will drop off, when collected this can be sold as white(or green) hash or ice
Few Facts on the workings of THC :
Cannabis has hundreds of active ingredients, called cannabinoids, Cannabinoids can be but do not have to be the same or function the smae as the cannabinoids in your brain (the main receptors being CB1 and CB2) These cannabinoids are used in general functions regulating the body. These own-cannabinoids influence nearly everything in the body, they have influences on vision, and hunger, but also on sweating the production of salliva, the intensity of signals transmitted through the nervous sytem, and on and on and on....
Generally, THC is said to be active only 2 hours. In real life it depends on the way how you ingest , smoke or otherwise get the cannabinoids in your system. It influences the complete nervoussystem including the personality and feelings, it's a painkiller, it makes your feelings stronger, it makes your eyes look red. it corrupts your short term memory. It gives people an apetite
Speed and duration of the workings
Vaporisation: active in minutes, lasts for 1,5-3hrs
Smoking/bong/pipe: active in minutes, last for 1,5-3hrs, when smoking pure the duration will be more potent but more difficult to dose.
Drinking (buttertea or comparable) active in 30-90 minutes, lasts for 4-6 hours (difficult to dose)
Eating (spacecake, brownies or the like) active in 60-2,5 hours, lasts up to 8-12 hours. (difficult to dose)
But the loss of the high/stoned feeling does NOT mean the amounts of cannabinoids are normalized! The body has 2 main ways to get rid of cannabis:
1 The liver and addidtional secretion methods
2 Storing excess cannabinoids in bodyfat..., as this happens in active layers it is also released in very low amounts during your day, not giving you a high, but still interfering with the nervoussystem.
Normally most people wouldn't react to this. but some do. Some people are more easily affected then others.
Dangers of cannabis :
- Being intoxicated in the first place: dangerous while driving under the inluence and unwise when you still have things to do the same day. Generally speaking driving while under the influence of drugs is considered worse or equal to driving under the influence of alcohol.
- General feeling not comfortable if you have obligations or stress, or other bad emotional problems, this can trigger psychosis if you go completely wrong.
- Chance of psychosis: Cannabis can trigger psychosis in people, mostly in people who are already vunerable to said psychosis (having people in the direct familly who had psychosis is a good indicator to never try yourself. In people very vunerable to psychosis cannabis-usage is able to trigger schizophrenia). People having bad episodes could be affected by mild or minor psychosis(-like) emotions)
- Impairment of the short time memory, forgetfullness, concentrationproblems and reaction loss.
- Chance of neausea...
- When smoking the smoke of a joint is between 15 and 30 times as dangerous (comparing smoke samples) as a cigarette, a joint when not shared will also last 2-3 times longer then a cigarette.
- Sharing joints can cause infections through saliva. (herpes & other virally and bacteriologically transmitted disease)
- Eating cannabis is a daylong project... From when you start until the effects finish can be over 10 hours... and people tend to sleep it off..
things that lower the workings of cannabis:
alcohol, nicotine, vitamine C, carbohydrates (sugar).
If someone doesnt feel to good I personally try 3 things:
- Make him or her comfortable & talk to them, but avoid asking what's wrong if they are to frightened to tell about it
- Make sure he or she drinks enough, but no alcohol, eats something (prefferably sweet, but if said person is a burger lover order him a burger or pizzaslice.
- Bring or keep him or her in a familiar, liked or safe, prefferably quiet place if he or she wants it so.
- Be good & kind, you might be next... and need it as well and then you will have to trust your friends. So don't smoke alone!
- Overdosing on Cannabis (=generally not dangerous): normally seen symptoms: low bloodpressure, high hartrate & fainting spells, panic attacks, sleeping, eating, general paranoia. No death or prolonged unconsiousness.
When digesting cannabis, know then : you should need 2500 gram of cannabis to get to a dangerous amount of THC(=5 lbs)
(WARNING: Cannabis Sativa exagerates ALL emotions of people, including the worst: depressions, mania's, psychosis and suicidal feelings and or tendencies!...)
Now for your question: If you smoke cannabis and are still sensitive to very small doses you can get flashbacks, and (minor) emotional distress due to the ways cannabis afflicts your body and the use of bodyfat between meals. The memory blackouts are a prime problem in this story. But if you have fobias (due to common factors, like people for example...) know that this will reoccur for some time then fade, can be made a whole lot worse by using more AND could leave you psychologically impaired for some time, if you freak out. possibly leading you into a psychiatrists lounge seat...

It could also have been an epilepsy attack, these can also be triggered by smoking marihuana!
At least this happens for me. And I get partial and partial complex seizuresm if I smoke.
These could also fit your experiences.

Hello. Thanx for your summare about cannabis, and theory about EP attacks, but I dont think that's whats going on. I have never had any EP problems my self, though I have a bit of neurological problems, numb/electrical sensations when sober to. It came when i was young after inhaling solvents and eating a strong neurotoxic acne medicine called Roaccutane. These symtoms are lingering always since then. But some drugs excaggerate the symtoms making them appear like a litteral "Sensory Neuropathy" symtoms. The exact same symtoms, so iif the symtoms persisted permanently i would get that diagnosis, and not EP diagnosis, cantch my drift? The question is how and why this happens. Some users here has not got any prior neurological symtoms, and thus previous neurological problems seems to not be the primary cause of the problems. What we're talking about here is the strong unconfortable symtoms of wierd sensory experiences, being anable tu put ones hands in ones pockets because the feeling is so strong it hurts. Being unable to button ones pants, unable to do simple tasks as opening the fridge, supporting ones weight on the sofa when getting up, and so on, even though one is not feeling very stoned or high. It's like it says pop and the sensory nerves gets turned inside out, rendering the user almost unable to move or orient himself in the physical world. However, symtoms is usually managed with not touching things and then the feelings calm down. I have however experiebnced worse symtoms on shrooms, where i feel like im burning, and that i feel like im loosing contact with my body, and every sensation fires up electrical currents in my body that lights and sparks inside. Its hard to move then and one get very scared.
Loading...
And, other cannabis users look at me like im an alien when i decribe my symtoms to them. Sure they get stoned, and get some elveated sensing when stoned but they cant relate to my experiences. And i can smoke as little as 0,05g standard hash hish and still pop and being totaly disabled unable to sit or touch things because it feels to much or like an fuzzy electrical current. It perplexes and saddens me.
Loading...
In fact, my avatar here, the curly star, resembles how it feels being incapacitated by these feelings. Feels like the green is the physical world, the orange is the electrical current and strong fiery feeling that appears between me and the physical world, and the black being my inner self experiencing these things.

As marihuana strengthens all sensory stimuly, I'd say you probably are very sensitive to this phenomenon. Maybe you are gifted with more receptors for cannabis or are just someone who reacts extremely strong to the drug. I've smoked mariuhana for 10 yrs daily, and I have seen people affected more and less by cannabis . but I cannot really get a grip on your story. I must say this sounds like overstimulation of your sensory system or just hallucinations (general instead of purely visual of some kind).
Be aware epilepsy attacks do not neccesarily mean you have a cramp and start shaking. Partial attacks can influence any part of the brain, if your experience is purely touch based It could just be your brain is in seizure in the parts regulating your sense of touch.
I do not say It has to be like this, but it surely could cover some of your experiences. I know a woman who gets a feeling like burning, these sensations only affect her when she gets an partial attack. No visual stimuly, no convulsions, only the nerves feeling or experience warmth & pain get overstimulated in some sort of way. And even though she knows it's not real, it makes her scream, as the brain makes it the same experience for her as being actually on fire.
And brain damage can cause epilepsy, as can drug use (mostly with stimulants (uppers), but downers also work). Solvents are known to cause more damage to the brain then most other drugs...
I'm just trying to tell you this: It could be bigger than just cannabis...

I agree on that it's bigger then just cannabis, im not critisizing cannabis, im saddened that i cant smoke and enjoy it as an alternative to alcohol, because of these unconfortable symtoms. Let me clarifty, I get these symtoms from other drugs too! Some drugs excite my already damaged sensory nerves/brain centra, thats my only comclution. Wether it's an EP or just damaged neurons, i dont know. Curiously though, ppl I talk to here are often young, and has no previos know damaged nerves.. They just experience that cannabis brings to surface these strange uncomfortable symtoms. And, it's not very common, to get these adverse reactions when smoking cannabis, so something bigger is going on, indeed.

I got it right you are not using other drugs anymore other than cannabis right?
So no alcohol, solvents, laughing gas, shrooms, opiates, coca-variants, lsd, mescaline, guarana, or others?
Are you sure it's not laced? I'm from the Netherlands and I can buy weed at a store (Dutch coffeeshop), where it's clean regarding other drugs, but if you buy on the street, it could contain anything the dealers is selling as well...
Is the weed you smoke now it roughly the same herb as you started with... I used to smoke basic outdoorgrown purple haze or some thai or outdoor nederwiet, being very light (guess 2,5-4% THC) nowadays I live in a different city and the lightest I can buy is northern light (starting at 8,5 THC), WhiteWidow or jack herrer (being 12-15% THC easily here) so the weed is double or triple the strength compared to when I started. Also due to changing focus while cross breeding nowadays, the THC levels are higher than ever and is nolonger focussed on CDB... causing more mental destabilistaion and making weed more stoned and less high...
My general sensations smoking weed the past 3-5 yrs completely differ from 12 yrs ago. (I haven't smoked regularly for 3 yrs (only smoked 10, maybe 14 joints in the past 3 yrs)
I overdose joints very easy nowadays... I can make 10 joints easily from a 1,5 grams box of jack herrer, it used to be 4 maybe 5 (most joints here are rolled with tabacco.)
If I get stoned and if I sit at a certain position to long I suffer sleeping limbs. Mostly due to lost muscle tesion and my weight and build, (being 6ft7 (2.04 meter) and 19,7 stone (125kg). This causes a numbing effect and pain (mostly tingling but much more potent) when the bloodflow returns to said limb. This is also caused by the heart muscle being unable to pump the same amount of blood round in the same timespan, and therefore being saddling up the body with low bloodpressure for the duration. (also causing greyouts and blackouts when standing up.)
I do like to ask you some questions:
-is the experience physical or sensory in nature
-how often do you smoke now? daily/ weekly/ monthly
-what is the potency of your weed?
-can you avoid the sensations by smoking in a quiet place or being at a place you like (=trust) more?
-are you stressed out about work or other important things in life?
(I do not care for the details, I just want a concrete answer!)
-did you ever suffer from psychic problems other then anxiety?
-did you suffer headtrauma in the past few yrs, being Concussions, Skullfractures, Menigitis, Korsakoff (due to alcohol misuse), broken nose / jaw, TIA's or minor strokes, braintumors?
-What is your history of drug (ab)use with amounts and frequency
-Do you know people in your family with epilepsy, or degenerative brain diseases?
Answers regarding the questions for me:
-my experiences are both (being physical due to tge sleeping of the limbs and psychically due to fear and anxiety attack if I misdose my joint.
-I smoke only 3 days a year, being at a festival normally I smoke less than 1 gram a day (this year it was 2.50 grams in 3,5 days) (being somewhat less frequent compared to 10 yrs ago when I was smoking 5 joints a day 1,5 grams 365/365
- Dutch coffeeshop hydroculture weed (normally seen as extremely potent)
-yes I can move to a more relaxed space if I start freaking out. I just need to to focuss and my anxiety will disappear. generally this is a sign I did have something on my mind
- I used to be, as my life was coming to a standstill due to my misuse of cannabis. I dropped out of university, failed 2 jobs and was found mentally unfit for a job.
- used to suffer depressions and manic episodes, no psychosis, so I'm bipolar II, and yes I did suffer psychic problems
- I blew a vein in my brain while rowing a u23 WC race, causing epilepsy, and triggering general changes in my personality and memory.
- I've used caffeine, cannabis, alcohol and tabbaco. (so I'm quite noobish regarding drugs)
-my uncle and grand father suffered epilepsy, others in my family migraine and some suffered psychiatral problems mostly depressions.
So no alcohol, solvents, laughing gas, shrooms, opiates, coca-variants, lsd, mescaline, guarana, or others?

@mugen94:
Simply said:
When you stop usage of cannabis, you get withdrawal. Emotional withdrawal. Not like the vomiting pain and stuff you see with cocaine and heroine junks, (being mostly physical withdrawal).
Withdrawal is the way your body communicates the absence of the missing (working) ingredients of the cannabis in your brain. This can trigger flashbacks, stimulatory feelings and panic attacks. Some people will shun the general public due to fear, shame, mistrust of just mental disorders. This will fade, but can be triggered for an indefinite periode in some individuals. If symptoms reoccur I'd suggest a visit to a pyschologist/psychiatrist/addiction clinic for answers regarding your questions in regard to your experiences.
Cannabis can trigger sleepyness/insomnia, panic, psychosis, manic periods, depressions (temporary or permanent), hallucinations, memory holes, sensory numbness and overstimulation, feelings of pain (as it is also a painkiller). If you are vunerable to these symptoms: they can last for months after use, if you stress out worrying about your use and it's effects, they'll last untill you get over your fear.... The stress itself can be as dangerous as the cannabis...
So If you stop: Know you will be safe. Cause the worrying is not good for you.

I have only used alcohole, nicotine and cannabis regularly the last year, though at the moment I dont use any of them but nicotine (drasticaly reduced). I cant hardly smoke cannabis sober due to these symtoms i have described. I need a GABA stimulator like alcohole not to get my nerves freaked out, u know.
Your questions:
-is the experience physical or sensory in nature
It feels physical, but I know my sensory nerves is not working right cause it's abnormal sensations. Have u read what i have written about the symtoms? "Not being able to put my hands in my pockets, or button my pants, due to objects (pants in this case) appearing to be sending out an intense electrical current."
-how often do you smoke now? daily/ weekly/ monthly
Right now nothing. Been smoking sporadically, like once a week for a year now. Had a 2,5 year total not smoking before this. Only drinking. Before that smoked every day for a year, about a gram a day.
-what is the potency of your weed?
Home grown mostly, quite potent, but that works better than street hash on my nerves, hash has another cannabinoid profile wich my nerves dont tolerate, but strong THC weed can also really f**k up my sensory system.
-can you avoid the sensations by smoking in a quiet place or being at a place you like (=trust) more?
Nope, only thing that matters is the amount smoked, and if it's smoked with a GABA stimulant like alcohole or not.
-are you stressed out about work or other important things in life?
No, that does not matter, it's a pure effect from excitatory substances. Not only weed casue these symtoms for me, as mentioned, also some opiates, mushrooms and stuff mess with my sensory nerves.
(I do not care for the details, I just want a concrete answer!)
-did you ever suffer from psychic problems other then anxiety?
After roaccutane treatment i got paranoid and bipolar.
-did you suffer headtrauma in the past few yrs, being Concussions, Skullfractures, Menigitis, Korsakoff (due to alcohol misuse), broken nose / jaw, TIA's or minor strokes, braintumors?
Only roaccutane/solvents neorulogical damage i think, when i was younger. Wich set off an electrical buzz trough my body, that to this day is present. Thats why i think my senory problems is related to that. Buyt others that describe similar symtoms state that they never used solvents nor roaccutane.
-What is your history of drug (ab)use with amounts and frequency
Mostly drinking. Tried other things to, but not in excess.
-Do you know people in your family with epilepsy, or degenerative brain diseases?
Well, not much, my grandmas brother had scizophrenic tendencies, and my mother has hade fainting/panic attacks. But i have never had that.
What I really weant to know is what we that experience these symtoms have in common, that can explain our symtoms triggered by some drugs like weed and shrooms.
Im starting to believe that it can be a bunch of causes, that has distrubed the nerves function or neuro transmitters in the brain, and maybe a genetical inherited sensitivity.
Im now drawing back on nicotine and alcohole, and is experiencing some strange similar symtoms in my sensory nerves. Mi pinky finger at the moment feels numb and marginally electric as i write this. Noticed that yesterday too, that i felt an extra much of body buzzing while winding down my nicotine intake. May be a contributing factor for me, my excessive nicotine usage. It's neurotoxic...
But strage thing, i never hear of any heavy smokers / drinkers, getting these strange sensations from weed or shrooms. So must be many factors..

I'll start the forum in the forum in a matter of days, today im a bit hung over though :) I was planning on quitting alcohole, but i got really bad numbness/anxiety the last couple of days so i had to relieve the symtoms with a few beers. I'll keep on struggeling though. Very strange attacks, never felt this way when quitting nicotine/alcohole before, just awful :( Really numb recently. Peace ppl
