I'm currently on my 6th day post-op and I can say that the pain sucks, but its not as horrible as I expected it. I felt extremely weak for the first 2 days, but I barely ate anything. On the 5th day, I was able to eat some spaghetti with mushrooms but i could only eat a little and had to continuously sip ice-cold water. I really have to force myself to swallow when my pain medications wear off. When I talk it sounds like I have a mouth full of cotton balls and it hurts to have a full conversation. My tidbits for those who are recovering is to drink as much water or gatorade you can, place an icepack on your throat when it hurts especially before bed, take your medication, and don't eat too many things that can thicken your mucus production (like ice cream) because its recommended that you should avoid coughing after a tonsillectomy (its seriously hard to do but I try).
Hope I have been somewhat helpful.

I'm excited that you were actually able to eat spaghetti on your fifth day even though it sounds to me like you had a bit of a difficulty doing it. It definitely helps to ice down while you're recovering as it helps reduce the swelling and bruising and it definitely helps with the symptoms. Has anyone else got some tips to share on recovering from a tonsillectomy?
