I do not want to read every response to the initial question, which seems to be the same situation I am in. I have a sore bump just below and to the left of my tailbone. Unlike a few of the responses I did read (and why I dont want to read every post), it is not p***y/draining. It's just a sore bump that showed up out of nowhere earlier today. Or, at least, it was noticed today. Of course the go to when you search for something is a c**p ton of "cancer responses" pop up. Not every symptom is freakin cancer. What else could it be aside from cancer or a puss filled cyst? Are those my only possible options?

It may be, I have the same thing, and usually you have to wait for it to be ready to drain(forcing it can rupture the skin badly, causing more pain) but you can speed it up with warm baths, washcloths or hot compresses, after a while of that you shjould be able to push on it gently and drain it. Afterward, i recommend another warm bath (or shower) to clean the area. This should relieve pain.

Ive had that icthing rash for 8 years and finally with some heavenly luck im cured! i´ve been now a year now without a itch ,i waited till the next summer to be sure as it was always the worst when it got moist around that area.Even the swelled up bumps are gone!! No more itching ,no more bleeding,no funny bumps!
Im telling you this on one request ,please spread it on every forum where people have suffered like us.Let the information be free.I hope this will help you as it helped me.
I use to use a baby rash cream to stop the ichting and one day i could not find it so i used one of my wifes creams thinking anything will do.I then used it for about 7 days because it was hot and the cream helped and then the following week i forgot about the itching ( a baby and toddler running up and about lets your mind be elsewhere) and a month later i realised i havent scratched in awhile and now a year later im cured and summer is almost over and not a itch or a scar!!
I prayed and begged for a result ( yes im a christian ) and got it!! Jesus answers people and there aint no such thing as dum luck only heavenly luck!
So please let me know if it helped you as it helped me,of all the things i tried to figure out what did i do this was the only thing i came up with because my diet didnt change ,the creams i used before only helped with calming the itching.I USED MY WIFES PROGESTROL CREAM.
I beg you if it helps you ,help spread the information because it took years of my life to find out with no one to help the internet has nothing.

I figured I would weigh in on the topic as I developed a Pilonidal Cyst a couple days ago.
It started as a simple tenderness but then quickly grew to a definite pain, especially when sitting. The night I noticed it, there was considerable discomfort when I sat. The next day, it began to be bothersome while walking despite the smallness of the cyst. So I researched.
Here's the main point. There are two treatments. 1st is getting the cyst to drain. This can be one of two ways. Drain it yourself (preferable) or go to the doctor and have the area locally anesthetized and incised to have it drained that way. The 2nd treatment is for a pilonidal cyst that keeps on coming back after drainage; this treatment is surgery and I hear the recovery is not fun. I just got back from the doctor, and she said that since the cyst was already beginning to drain, keep treating it on your own and let it continue to drain.
So here are a couple things that I did to get it to drain: 1st, and the most obvious and easiest, is the warm compress. Just take a washcloth and soak it in hot water (not scalding), ring it out a little bit and place the rag on top of the cyst. This brings blood to the region and allows for the skin to soften slightly allowing the cyst to have a minor rupture which allows for drainage.
The second thing I did was application of Zinc Oxide cream (find it in the First Aid section of Walgreens, CVS, etc.). Whether this treatment actually helped to drain the cyst, I am not sure. Just wanted to throw it out there. There's some talk on the internet about ZnO working for cysts. Take it or leave it, however mine did begin to drain this morning. Scalpel evasion successful!
One other thing is keep the area clean! I used hydrogen peroxide with cotton pads to cleanse the area. You want the puss, blood and whatever else that drains to be cleared away.
The doctor told me to take a bath in epsom salts which will help to retract the fluid and she also placed me on the antibiotic Clindamycin.
Hope that helps guys!
