Hello. I'm 58 years old and 7 years post hysterectomy/menopause (No ovaries were left) I've been on a low dose patch for most of the time.
The last week or so, my nipples (only nipples, not breast) are somewhat red in the center and tender. Only in the center area is it red. They aren't bothered by my bra, but to run my hands over them is painful.
I'm seeing my doctor this Friday, and will post if I get any answer.

My doctor feels this may be a yeast infection because I was on antibiotics for quite some time just prior to this. We'll see if the crea works, although I've been using it for a week and not much difference so far.

Count me in. 58 and post-menopausal several years. Sore for about a month. Organic coconut oil out of the jar used as a cream helped alleviate some of the soreness. If it is yeast related, should help with that as well. Will look for lymphomyosot. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have been experiencing very tender nipples and directly underneath them for a couple of weeks now. I am PRE-menopausal at 52 years of age. I am relieved to see this appears to be a common thing but apparently it happens after menopause. I'm in for trouble if that is the case as they really do hurt now.

I'm 61 & I can honestly say my nipples have been sore nearly all my life. It worsened when I was pre-menopausal then again post-menopause but I remember back when I was a young girl going thru puberty & first developing having the very same pain. I imagine it has something to do with hormones but as of yet I haven't been able to get help with balancing them. I am on bio-identical hormones. I have tried everything imaginable & I mean everything.
I've consulted many types of doctors, homeopaths, Naturopaths as well...no one seems to know the cause or how to help! I've decided it's up to me to figure it out.

I will be 54 and still having regular monthly periods, however they have become irregular in the past couple of months so I am now entering into peri-menopause. I have experienced very sore, swollen and red nipples for the past few days and thought it was due to my period coming on which was due yesterday. I have been cramping as if I'm going to start my flow any minute but still nothing. Last month my period was a few days early and now it appears to be late. I had my last child in my 40's but I'm pretty sure that I'm not pregnant because I'm too old. I'm assuming my sore, swollen nipples are caused by fluctuating hormones?

I am 46. I have not had a period for at least 5 months now. I just want to know what I can use to relieve the soreness. It doesn't seem as bad as some on here but it is irritating none the less. I cannot afford to run to my Dr for sore nipples. If anyone has something out there that has worked for them please post. I will try the alcohol.

I am 52 post menopausal (novasure procedure 2008) now incredibly sore nipples. But besides that issues in general with ovary discomfort both sides. Strange but true... I also have been experiencing so many sore random areas like the top of my right foot feels like someone had a high heel spike on & accidentally stepped on it really hard. My achilles tendons are sore, feet feel like I ran a marathon at times. All intermittent & I am wondering if it is all hormone related in addition to arthritis?! Will check forum for updates & pray we all get answers soon.

Hello there - soooo glad I finally found this..... I am 44 years old - I had to have my right ovary and fallopian tube removed in 2012 due to a benign tumor growing on it. While my doctor was in there she found that I had a large amount of endometriosis and put me on the Lupron shot. I was only able to get 3 of the 6 shots you are supposed to get because my GYN passed away and no doctor in my area used this drug. A few months later I wasn't having a period, so I went and the doctor checked my FSH levels which have remained elevated in the 70-80's since. This classifies me as post-menopausal, but I am not considered menopausal yet because in September of last year I had a period so I still have 5 more months. Of course I like you all woke up this way about a week ago and first thing I thought was c**p - I'm pregnant - so I have actually taken 38 pregnancy tests all with negative results. I do have an appointment at my doctor tomorrow because along with the hard red sore nipples I also noticed bumps on my areola that just don't seem normal.... I hope to get some answers and if I do - I will let you all know!!!!
