Don't take antibiotics they make colds worse and your immune lowers making you liable for more infection

I too have had a dry terribly painful cough and my throat feels as if I have been snacking on a box of Brillo pads every chance I get..lol..No but seriously I am up all hours of the night and very rarely get more than 4 hrs sleep.. due to my misery... My fiance had some of the same symptoms and went to see her Doctor And is feeling better just after a couple days worth of antibiotics and 2 shots. I have been taking her meds but they are not working for me. She has great insurance thru her job and I have no insurance so that's why I have been taking her left overs.. I cough so hard sometimes that my left arm throbs and then tingles..this concerns me more than any thing because heart disease does run in my family..am I being paranoid or should I get my buttons to the nearest ER.

Both my wife and I have it now. My wife got the 5 day z Pak while my doc gave me amoxicillin. After 4 days off the antibiotic it came back with a vengeance. Went to my ENT and he gave Clavamox. The cough is still terrible, dry and hard. At night Flonase helps sleep some. This thing will just not leave!

I’ve been reading all of your systems and it describes exactly what I’ve been going through It started with a serious chest cold that left me bed ridden for over two weeks. I did the antibiotics (didn’t help) and after the two + weeks I started feeling better and had a relapse a few days later I got over the relapse and now I’ve had a swollen sore throat, sore chest and a intermittent cough off and on (mostly on) for almost a month. My Doctor now thinks that it could be acid reflex….huy! I really don’t believe that I have acid reflex, especially now that I hear that every one of you are showing the exact symptoms (including fatigue). I will keep looking for an answer but I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. :6

it is not intuitive but this could be acid reflux - acid secretion from the stomach up into the oesophagus and even throat causes irritation and tissue damage if left untreated. Treatment is with proton pump inhibitors initially.

Hi,

I have had a sore throat and awful cough continually for two months- its embarrassing everyone keeps saying that I'm always ill. I had the flu jab beg of October and was ill 10 days later and it never seems to clear up. On my second lot of antibiotics.

So I'm a solid three weeks in dealing with the same dry chest cough and sore throat. The sore throat isn't that bad and luckily not consistent, but both issues persist, with an occasional runny nose.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck sweating the virus out in a sauna, or if anyone is still able to keep up their regular workout routine without making things worse?

Has anyone tried Scotts Cod Liver Oil Emulsion ? What this does is it heals the damaged area of the chest resulting from the cough. It contains vitamin D which together with Vitamin C aids quick recovery. Not pleasant to take but really helps. Wear a scarf on going outside, gargle with diluted TCP and eat good hot stews with onion in. Garlic also helps the immune system. OK ?

I must confess I have yet to go and see my doctor.(getting that sorted this week) I am dreading the C word. but I just hope its an infection. as soon as he sees me I will update you all on what he has told me.
