i've had a sore throat for 3 weeks now, had a course of antibiotics which has not cleared it. i have this feeling of wanting to clear throat, i suffer from gastric reflux also.

If you are still having sore throat after taking antibiotics, it sounds like you didn't take the right antibiotics if what you have is a bacterial infection. I don't think your gastric reflux has anything to do with your throat situation. If I were you, I would go back to the doctor and get a better diagnosis. Clearly, there is something else wrong. They will need to do cell cultures and identify exactly what you have and then they can determine what course of action they need to do. They probably gave you a general all purpose antibiotic hoping that would fix the problem. But that doesn't seem to be the case. If you don't feel comfortable seeing your doctor again then get another one.
