hi i have a question i had surgery due to cancer in my golan went to radation and chemo alaready but had to wear a bag because of my soma but my surgeon tell me he might not be able to put my spinktor back together can you tell me what a spinktor is and if its a muscle cant he use some muscle from my body to reconnect it thank you

While shane is basically right, I'll add some more information which might help you to understand why it may be impossible for your surgeon to completely reconstruct your sphincter. Sphincter is a circular muscle that can contract or release in order to hold on or to expel excess material from our body. As far as the colon is concerned, there are two sphincters which control the exit of feces from the body - internal anal sphincter and external anal sphincter. The inner sphincter is involuntary (that means you have no control of that muscle) and the outer is voluntary. So, all the difference now would make if you could give a little more information about which part of your colon your doctor was actually talking about.
