Hi, I have a question about my father’s health. He is 60 years old and for quite some time has been dealing with kidney problems (was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome). He has switched to a new medicament lately, called spironolactone, and I guess I would just like to hear something about it. I am worried for his safety.
Well, most of the medications are medications only if taken properly and only for certain period. In spironolactone’s case, that is a drug used to help people with heart, problems, kidney issues, even cirrhosis. It also helps with high levels of hormone aldosterone (secreted by adrenal gland). It has its side effects that are more or less similar to those of meds he is currently using, so I guess you know everything, if the allergic reaction happens, stop with the therapy immediately, if not, he can choose to endure minor issues or change the treatment.
