Hello everyone! I was looking for answers for my pain when I came across this feed. Ever since I had my last baby back in 2005 I've had this problem. In fact, that's when it started. After I had him I had this horrible horrible stomache pain and I thought maybe they didn't get all the after birth or there was an infection maybe. But I went back and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. Now, about every 2 or 3 cycles I get this. I am overweight and don't eat very healthy. I haven't really seen other people post their weight status on their postings and I think that's very important. Being overweight can cause all kinds of problems. But I've just chalked this whole pain thing up to being overweight and I'm thinking it's maybe muscle spasms or something simliar. I notice my cramps and flow are usually very bad when I get the stomache pain. I think my muscles in  my uterus are working so hard that it affects my other muscles in my abdomen and makes them work as well, even if they don't need to, causing the abdominal pain and muscle spasms, especially after eating where those other muscles are being used. What else could it be? The doctors obviously have no idea and it's silly to keep going to ask them. Sometimes we just need to figure things out for ourselves. Doctors DO NOT know everything.

wow, I noticed that all these post are over a year. I search the net and came about this website and I thought I was the only one around that had these symptoms. Every time I'm on my first day of period, I have a HUGE STOMACH PAIN, not cramps. It will last for about a week. It hurts when I sit, lie down, VERY HARD to stand or walk. It relieves the pain a little bit when I lie down on my left side into an almost circle position, but the pain is still there. I went for an ultrasound, blood test, urine test and all came back normal as you all mentioned. I ask the doctor and he mentioned that it had something to do with hormones and gave me drugs again! All the doctors that I've been too ALWAYS, ALWAYS give drugs. They never mentioned anything about natural remedies even though I know, they know, there are natural remedies to help us, I am positive, I just don't know how and where to get it They make money by us buying their drugs and the longer we take drugs, the worse it's going to get in the long run. There are TOO MANY side effects with drugs that we REALLY don't need to put in our system to ruin it as it is already hurting. I am still looking for the answer too as it has been going on for a year now. I am afraid it is some sort of stomach cancer, but I don't want to think about it and if this family doctor isn't helping me, I will seek for other doctors as I have done in the past years. I understand what everyone in this discussion is feeling because I belong to this stomach pain while on cramps thing. I will take some of the VERY HELPFUL tips that I get from reading these discussion boards. Thank you so much everyone and I wish you all well and god bless us and take care of us in this time of misery.

I agree with you 100%. It's very hard to find a female doctor. I have always had male doctors and seem like they always give pills no matter what! he didn't even give any advice just told me it was hormones and gave me a prescription for my pain which I don't like. Thanks for the tip onthe hormone cream. I am very happy to know that I am not alone and this site really does help. I have the same problem.. I am trying to find out what else can help me besides Pills, as I am reading this discussion.

I was reading the original post and subsequent ones and realized they're all from a year ago. I have the same problems...it's very painful and scary. My gyn did an ultrasound and it was fine. I go in tomorrow for my yearly physical and I'll ask my gp too but if you type in anything on the Internet it tells you that cancer is among the possibilities. Now I'm afraid I have colon cancer or some other cancer! I will be looking into a chiropractor and holistic doctor as well.

i attribute mine to constipation. every month if i dont go lots just befre my period, i will have bad and horrific stomach pain during my periods. i have went to doctors, had every test imaginable and figured it out myself. i believe that hormones play a huge role in getting as constipated and as easily as i do during my period. the doctor said it was radiating pain from the uterus. i though he was a m***n....but it makes sense now. just think, its a hormone that causes us to shed the lining (bleed) so its a hormone that causes the radiating pain and constipation.  i went to the hospital one day and they gave me this orange liquid medicine, which you can get over the counter...its called RATIO-LACULOSE and it has helped me tremendouusly....only this period, i for got to take it a couple days before.its not a harsh laxative, although i do get some pain in the tummy...then i know its gonna work. it says to take 30mls twice a day....i only take it once and it helps.....soften and bring it on.not to sounds gross, but we are all wIomen with a stomach issue. well this is mine and it took me years to figure it out.good luck ladies and in the mean time, M

I have all the symptoms women are describing on here. Interestingly, my uterus is tilted. This pain started several years ago, but disappeared completely. It just returned and I was trying to figure out why. I have been either pregnant or nursing for the last four years. As soon as I stopped nursing, the pain, bloating and pressure returned. It must be hormonal. That's the only thing that makes sense.

She is suffering from dysmenorrhea.
Please ask her to take the following Ayurvedic medicines for 1-2 months:

Dabur dashmularist after lunch and dinner
Ashol vati 2 X 2

Supari Pak 1-2 spoon with milk before sleep (it is a general tonic for women-so u can take it even if u dont have any problem)
i suppose u should be ok by next menses.

or she can take EVECARE Capsule by Himalaya Herbal Health care 2 X 2 for one month and after one month 1 x 1 for few months. see the result during next mensuration.
Good Luck and God bless you

I know this was four years ago, and you've probably found this out already, but soy is probably the culprit. I am having the same issues and have been eating soy products for a few weeks now.

It's not uterus related, but perhaps we are more susceptible to the effects around the menstrual time.

Don't know it you'll get this, but hope it helps someone.

I know this is late, but be careful when using soy. Estrogen is usually the cause of this kind of pain, as it is in me, and soy mimics estrogen. Soy is also a bean and that can compound the gas situation.
Just thought I'd let you know this. :)

Hi ladies,
I just found this conversation while researching my pain symptoms. I just turned 48 and have been off birth control for about 3 years.

Obviously I'm expecting changes in my cycle as I age, but never thought that menstrual related pain was going to get SO much worse with age.

The last year or so, cramps have been very severe, interfering in normal activities much more than when I was younger. Also though, in the last few months, I've started having very bad UPPER abdominal - stomach pain which feels like a large lump, accompanied by very pronounced swelling of my waist (not just usual bloating, but more overall protrusion with bad pains). This month I also got severe nausea and some gas, which GasX didn't relieve.

I've been working with the assumption I am becoming estrogen dominant and sparingly used progesterone cream between cycles.

Like so many of you have said - the pain from this is insane! Makes you feel like an ER visit is in order, like you want to avoid eating, and like normal physical activity will worsen the pain. Has anyone discovered a diagnosis ?

Help!!

i am in my 40s and over the past summer started to get these severe stomach cramps days before my period, sometimes during and a few days after.  The pain would be so bad there was no position that was comfortable.  I couldnt even take ibuprophen, motrin, or aleve. Pepto and store knock offs for mylanta wasn't even helping.  The pain was so bad that i even tried drinking milk to coat my stomach hoping that would help to take the pills, but it didn't.  I was going days without eating much cause food seems to make the pain worse, only drinking warm tea with no sugar.  As a last resort i tried a heating pad over the area til the pain was a lot less.  Then took off the heating pad and let my skin cool a little, then applied some aspercreme. I used a generic store brand of aspercreme that worked great too.  After i did that the pain stayed away for about 12 hours.  When the pain would start to return all i had to do was wash off the area where the aspercreme was before using repeating the processes again with the heating pad.  So far that is the only thing that has worked for me.

I hope this helps someone. Take care to all
