I'm gonna guess that you've been diagnosed with ulcers then (?)

While smoking pot can contribute to this- your doctor was a little presumptuous in blaming it all on the pot! Smoking anything can contribute to ulcers. The walls of the esophegus & stomach 'dries out', as such, leaving it susceptable to lesions when there is an excess of stomach acid present- hence, ulcers. However, regular, heavy alcohol consumption can be a major contributory factor too- as can poor diet & excessive fizzy drinks.

Furthermore, as a scientist myself; another professional working with the medical model should not say that something caused something to happen. There is a high probability of it being a contributory factor, but smoking pot alone did not cause your symptoms or illness.

Funnily enough, I suffered with ulcers at your age too! I was throwing up blood & had excrutiating stomach pains after a particularly heavy weekend- which didn't include much pot smoking! I had only been smoking pot regularly for a couple of years at that point.

When admitted to hospital, I was told by a few doctors & nurses that it was my lifestyle that was the problem- the smoking included. The heavy drinking that particular weekend excelarated what was already wrong with me. Needless to say, I don't drink much anymore- only a couple of times a year & never to excess. Ulcers can reoccur. On average, those who have been diagnosed with ulcers, usually need treatment around once every 2 years. Diet & how much you drink & smoke need to be monitored & controlled to lessen the likelihood of ulcers occuring; however, sometimes they can be quite serious.

Hope you feel better soon.
