I am an United States Marine.  2 years ago I did a tour of duty that stuck me in a spot that consisted of a chair and a lot of computer monitors for 12 hours straight a day.  I still remained active and worked out on my off time above the normal amount of exercise that most would.  I started to feel pains under the skin around the upper thigh area, not to be confused with the upper genetal region, but strictly in the bend between the thigh and the pelvic region.  Once my tour was completed, I sought treatment for this multiple times. And for anyone that does not know how the military treats issues regarding any are around the pelvis, you get sent to get your bore punched.  ie (STD check old school style)  Each time i was told that it was a fungal infection which is common for areas where the skin folds.  Even with this "treatment" there is pain under the skin only now the skin where the pain is most noticeable has turned into what looks like scar tissue, or for those of you referring ring worm, that kind of look.  (I wrestled for 6 years ive had it and seen it, results from unsanitary conditions on the mats)  But without the raise of tissue on the skin.  When ever i run my finger across the tissue there is a noticeable dip, like what ever is there is carving away the mussel inside my thigh.  These marks have gotten larger with time growing both more inside my thing and down.  Also over the last 2 years my blood pressure has gotten markedly high, almost enough to rate blood pressure medication.  It seems to me that in most of the cases discussed that stress has been the only common factor in everyone here, and with stress comes weight gain.  But a fair warning to all, with the use of creams on the skin.  If you use a cream on a fungal infection such as hydrocortisone cream, YOU WILL promote the growth of the fungus.  I refer you back to the wrestling mats issue.  If anyone gains note worthy knowledge on this issue please share.

I think I have what everyone here is talking about.  I am 15 but i am not gaining weight or working out a lot so i doubt that it is stretch marks.  I have the red lines on the inner part of my thighs.  Sometimes I see that they are darker than other times but I'm not really sure what the reason is for that.  That's interesting about the stress theory.  Now that i think about it I got them a few months ago when I was very stressed and not getting much sleep.  I think that is definitely a possibility. Any other ideas??

I've also have had the same red marks on my thighs. I play volleyball and when my team and I went to regionals for 2 days, the marks started causing pain. Maybe it was because my thiighs were constantly touching eachother due to me wearing spandex. The horizontal marks on my upper thigh make me feel so worried when I wear shorts. The marks are high enough that people cant notice but my family has taken notice of the marks and we can't figure out what they are. If I start itching the marks, they itch like hell. I'm 16 and weigh 137 and I don't think I've gained much weight. I just assumed them to be strechmarks until I researched them.

Same thing here... on inner thighs... around the outside of the hips and are indented into the skin... Dark reddish scar material. I'm male 16 and whilst i weigh like 200 pounds im not overweight or anything. I dont gain or lose weight in terms of fat but over the past 3 years iv gained about 80 pounds from growth. I cant recall being stressed recently. If anyone can shed some insight into whats causing them or how to get rid of them i would be very grateful. They have appeared over the past 3 months or so and i assumed they may have just been bruises from wearing pants that are slightly too tight and i thought that they would fade. However since they began appearing  around the inner thighs i became worried. Please reply with either knowledge of what these are or how to get rid of them as they are able to be seen when im not wearing a shirt which is very distressing when in the pool.

I've noticed the same things on my inner thighs as well. I think I first spotted them nearly a year ago but I just thought they were from wearing short shorts all the time or something, but they haven't faded or anything since then. They aren't painful or don't bother me at all. I'm 14 and haven't really lost or gained any weight quickly or anything but I do do sports like soccer tennis and gymnastics. Anyone got any info?

Hey guys... I have pretty much the exact same thing going on as everyone else, mine is specifically from deep in my inner thigh stretching outward only about halfway out to my thigh. I'm a guy, 22 years old, 6'2 about 220lbs. Not over weight, in pretty good shape. Now the only thing that I saw was someone said something about stomach pain... about 2 months ago i had really bad stomach pains and had to go to the doctor but they coudln't figure out what it was. That has seemed to go away but I can't seem to put my finger on it. I have to say i am EXTREMELY stressed, i work 70 hours a week, just recently got married, and go to school full time in college. That all recently started and that's about when this started. My blood pressure has been up and I started about a year ago a desk job but due to the hours I am sitting way more and I stopped working out (I used to work out every day for several hours) about 2-3 months ago.

Mine do not hurt but like some have said its almost like an indentation, almost like the skin is stretched out or as if it's a blister that would almost fill up with water but it doesn't. It's really hard to describe, sometimes they're really red othertimes they are not, but they seem to be spreading further and further down my thighs and it almost seems like they're veins but yet again that's not really a way to describe them. But I have it equally on both thighs starting deep in my thigh (from my scrotom) reaching out in a branch like motion. Sometimes they hurt but not always. They seem to be intensified after sex, I'm not sure if anyone has had that as well?

I've been checked for Std's and all of that good ole stuff and I"m clean... so I'm not exactly sure what in the world this could be? Anyone find anything out?

It seems I have the same thing the majority of you do, although mine haven't caused me any pain yet. I'm a 22 year old male, I'm in pretty good shape, though I have gained a bit of weight lately (like 10 pounds over the last year and a half). They first appeared on one side of my inner thigh, a couple of long thin marks, that almost seem like they could be a scratch. They're redish/purple in colour, seem to consist of a sort of scar tissue, and dont stick out, but rather sink in, like some of the flesh or muscle underneath has been eaten away. They are now starting to appear on the direct opposite side of my inner thigh.
I have noticed some things all of us seem to have in common. For one, a lot of us seem to be under a lot of stress. I for one am currently going through my final year at university, and it is the most stressed I've ever been in my whole life. Two, many of you don't seem to be exercising much, or seem to be at a job that requires an extensive amount of sitting. I haven't gotten too much exercise lately myself, and spend a lot of time sitting, either in class, at home on the computer, or at work. I also have a bad habit of sitting in a bad position at home that usually causes my leg to fall asleep, though I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
So far it hasn't caused me any problems other than aesthetical, but my wife is getting worried. I would appreciate it if you all subscribed to this topic, or regularly return to it. that way if any of you finds out what it is, or how to help us, you can fill us all in. Thanks.

So it seems everyone has the same  red/purple scar like indentation stretching out from the scrotum and out to the middle of the thighs, i have been tested for stds and im clean and im 150 lbs and in very good shape, i got them like almost 2 years ago and my job was sitting down for at least 3 hours at a time, i also noticed that the purple scars intensify after sex or any vigorous exercise, i read all the comments and alot of us have the same sit at work for periods of time job! im not to sure but it might be a spot in the veins that got bunched up for being in a certain spot for a long period of time and clotted( causes pain) but for u that dont have pain may not have it as bad as others, if u rub it for a while u might notice the redness disappear, due to the fact that blood passed through and the muscle relaxed, u should check ur blood pressure and if its higher then normal, that is a good indication that u have or might have a clot or a building of a clot, or ur muscle contracts and causes pain due to too much sex or masturbation (yes girls can masturbate too!) and u severed the muscle connected from ur pelvic bone to ur hip bone and the more u use that muscle the worst its going to get!

Unfortunately I don't think they go away. And it just sounds like stretch marks. I had them myself for over a year, and they don't really seem to fade away.

I have these same indentations around my inner thighs and lower stomach around Csection scar... When I was going to the doctor regulary for my pregnancy 2 different doctors said it could be skin tags. They werent worried about it. They kind of were like pimples and then turned into indentations over time. I too have an office job and sit most of the day, Doctors said it could be from wearing jeans/pants that are too tight and when you sit down they pinch your skin etc... I dont think it is anything to worry about, but recently stomach pains have started. I no longer have medical insurance so cant go to the doc at the moment. Ill keep checking this to see if anyone gets a diagnosis...

I love when there is a whole thread of people chiming in to say that they too have the same problem that the OP has, and they also don't know what to do in order to get rid of it. but they would like to know a solution too! This can go on for pages, as dozens of people respond.

I love the internet.
