Back on April 26th, after a shower, while I was drying off, a small hole on my left leg near/above the ankle towards the front of the leg started to stream out blood. It was painless and the only way I even noticed it was by the blood streaming out. It took a good while to get it to stop bleeding by applying pressure to the opening, a bandage was put over it and for over a month, I had no problems with it.

On this past Monday the 16th, after a shower, and again drying off, it started to stream again, it took less time to get it to stop by first using cold water over the wound itself until it stopped bleeding. A strong bandage was placed over it and left there for 2 days, during my shower on Wednesday the 18th, it happened again, this time, before I had even tried to dry off my legs it was already streaming blood, again I used cold water over it until it stopped. It took almost as long as the first time to stop it.

It's completely painless, I don't feel anything from it. I have no idea what caused this as I did not have any kind of injury there at all of any kind. I would assume that after more than a month of it not doing a thing that whatever would opened up there would have healed by now, but it didn't if it's starting to happen again.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this and what this is? And if there is any quick methods to take care of this

a similar thing happened to me today April 2 11. I got home and my sister noticed a quarter size blood spot at the bottom of my jeans. When I took my socks off I was wondering what black string was stuck to my leg? It was not a black string but a stream of blood coming out of my leg near my ankle. I would not stop for a long time. Sister thinks something stuck me but I doubt it. I have been having problems with salt and blotting lower legs. I am also taking Advair and I've been pretty good about taking my meds. Anyway after putting ice and going through many paper towels and elevating my leg it finally stopped bleeding. I bled a lot, all over the floor with much spader.

Same thing happened to me over a course of three years or so. It never did fully heal so I Finally went to a doctor last week and they suggested I get the vein underneath "ligated" (sp?). Which apparently means cut out as they gave me a local anesthetic and proceeded to chop out the bad part of the vein that was causing the bleeding.

A similar thing just happened to me, but instead of the ankle, it was my left shoulder. I was drinking water before I was about to go to bed when I noticed that my shirt felt soaked. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and my shoulder was covered in blood. I want to know how this occurs.

I get such bleeding holes quite often on my face and legs. I was searching for answers. The dermatologist once froze these holes. For a while it looked big and ugly but healed quite quickly. Otherwise, such holes stay for quite long, bleeding in and out.

I had the same happen today. On the side of the ankle. Small pinhole and blood gushing out. I couldn't get it stopped for a while and lost about a pint and a half of blood before it finally stopped. Went to the hospital and all they could do was put a patch on it and I'm now keeping my leg elevated while the pinhole heals.

Strange thing, indeed.

Hi My sister in law has had a very similar issue, she had a puncture hole and no idea where it came from, it to was on her leg. She went to a&e as an emergence and they said a silverfish had eaten its way in and course an infestation in her body. She is a very over weight lady and said although she knew her leg was swelling up she didn't know why. It has taken 6 months to sort out and kill the silverfish. Shes ok now

It just happened to my mom. She was taking off her sock and she said it some kind of ulcer that popped. Thin stream of blood was pouring out. I applied pressure where the bleeding was and called 911. She's diabetic, js going through chemotherapy as well. Paramedics took her to the ER. Will keep you posted on what doctor says.

It sounds like you may have a skin ulcer or wound that is not healing properly. Skin ulcers can be caused by various factors, including poor circulation, pressure on the skin, infection, or underlying medical conditions such as diabetes or autoimmune disorders.

To help the wound heal, you can clean the area with mild soap and water and apply an over-the-counter antibacterial ointment. Keep the area covered with a sterile bandage to prevent infection and further irritation. It's also important to avoid any activities or clothing that may rub against the area and cause further irritation.

The doctor may recommend additional treatments, such as antibiotics or specialized wound care, depending on the severity of the ulcer and the underlying cause.
