Hi! Stridor is an abnormal, high-pitched, musical breathing sound caused by a blockage in the throat or larynx (voice box). It is also called an extrathoracic airway obstruction. Stridor may indicate an emergency and should always be evaluated immediately by a doctor. Common causes are: laryngitis (acute), airway trauma, allergic reaction, croup, enlarged tonsils or adenoids, abscess on the tonsils, neck or facial swelling, secretions, particularly phlegm... It could be something serious, you can have breath failure. You should see a doctor. Treatment depends of underlying cause.
