My mothier had the same problem and the doc whom we met had told us that its due to the fluid in the ears which maintains the equilibrium of the body. Also if your body is not getting adequate oxygen you will get this problem.

hi, my name is Ivy, for years now i have suffered with fibromyalgia, i have many other symptoms.  the fibromyalgia, is in every muscle in my body and very painful, i suffer with lots of chest pain, that up to now, as meant that i have been rushed into hospital with suspected heart attacks five times. my other symptoms are in no sort of order, spondolosis, of the neck, spine, hips and legs.  Hypertension, Cholesterol problems. rhinositus, which affects the lining of your nostrels. Blood pressure, Eczema. IBS (bowel problems) low thyroid gland. Deuademum reflux. Jaw problems because of fibromyalgia. Pains in legs (like standing in tub of jelly fish). legs feel numb to touch, but any touch causes terrible pain.Eye problems Cateracts and glaucoma, prism and dry eye's. Fatty liver.(not i might add through alcohol). Slipped Disc. Water retention. Daily Migraines because of pains shooting up the back of the neck. Attacks (covering Deuademum to Jaw).  Forgetfullness (most of my early life, and that of my children's i can't remember.) Dizzyness. Extra long intestines, Deafness, Hiatus Hernia. Urinary problems, and you've guessed it swelling all over the body. that blood test's don't pick up. my dietition as given up with me, because everytime i see her iv'e put on 5lbs.  all of my right side wrist, elbow, hip, leg, knee. all have sharp pains going down them. now i will give you a list of my medication. Aqueous cream for Eczema. Bendroflumethiazide for blood pressure. Betamethasone valerate cream for Eczema. Betnesol for clicky jaw problems. Candesartan for hypertension. Celluvisc eye drops. Clenil modulite asthma Clonozapam to help sleep through pain. Co-codamol pain relief. Domperidone deuademum problems. Doxazosin blood pressure.Esomeprazole stomache. Gaviscon stomache. Laxido IBS. Levothyroxine 25 and Levothyroxine 50 for thyroid gland. Loratadine allergy relief.  Migraleve pink. Pravastatin lower cholerterol. pregabalin anticonvulsant drug. Ventafaxine for pain in legs. Ventollin asthma. now i am due to go and see a urology specialist, i am hoping to see if he can see why i am having leakage problems. if there is something happening with the hiatus hernis that can be causing this swelling constantly. i am only 59. 60 in April, so i don't need to be looking as i see it like a freak with a gynormous belly, sore breasts. chest pains. i look like i am muscle bound. i had two cisarians and an early hysterectomy in my 30s so that doesn't help with the muscles in my stomache. like you, i would dearly love a cure, at least for the swelling, it so depresses me. iv'e got that bad at times that i have said to my husband, if i didn't wake up in the morning, i wouldn't care. because this is no way to live. i have enough problems with everything else. i will let you know if the urinary specialist is able to help. fingers crossed.

I don't know if it is good or bad that so many people are having the same problems and having the same answers..none.

I have excessive swelling from my face to my legs and it comes and goes.  Normally chest pain starts then the swelling but not always.  I have spent the past 2 years having test run and talking to Heart doctors, gastrologist, and even counceling and no answers.  I have been told I'm just getting older.  I am 56.  What is getting old is seeing so many people with the same symptoms and no amswers.  OK I am venting.  I now don't sleep well which just adds to the problem.  Let me know.  I have never been tested for fibromyalgia.  I recent have been experiencing weakness in muscle and tendents (*spelling).

hi there, there are certain points in the body that the specialist check for, to check if you have fibromyalgia, if you have pain in those areas, you are then diagnosed, go and get your doctor to send you see a specialist, unfortunitely that will only tell you if you have got it, not why you are swelling. but at least you have an answer to your condition, that helps. a little. sleep problems are one of the conditions. forgettfulness, fatigue. pain all over the body. it's only in the last few years that fibromyalgia as been considered a proper diagnosis that the doctor's would believe in. it was an american doctor who did big write up's about the condition, that is now established as a cronic complaint. i hope this helps a little. take care, if your tired rest, if you feel unwell give yourself time, until you feel a bit easier, but it wont go away. sorry to say.ivy.

Loulie, it's as if I'm reading my own post! I have all of the same problems. I even had a total hysterectomy (no ovaries) 20 years ago. I have fibromyalgia and blame a lot of my symptoms on that but it seems that it's getting worse. So much so that I'm missing a lot of work. Certain foods trigger my symptoms & I try to avoid them but it's hard. PLEASE if you find out what is causing all of this, PLEASE let me know. This has been going on for years now.

I had this problem for several years and thought it was medication I was on for Atrial Fibrillation as this can be a side effect. But the swelling was intermittent at times and every day at others. I even had to buy larger shoes, as my shoes were too tight to wear, larger clothing too. By accident I realized that I had been taking Pepcid Complete at times for acid reflux. The product was taken off the shelves in my local stores. As a result I decided to try and control the reflux with diet. Within 3 days all of the swelling had disappeared. I lost about 15 pounds in water weight in that 3 days. That's when I realized that all those years, I was sensitive to the Pepcid. I have not had a problem with the swelling in over a year. Last week I bought some Tums and used them for a few days. The swelling came back with 2 days. My doctor could never find a reason for the swelling either. He was quite surprised when I told him, that it was the Pepcid and Tums that were causing the problem. When I stopped taking these meds, I lost almost 2 sizes after the swelling left! So happy that I finally figured out the cause. There are many reasons for swelling like this. My husband has kidney disease and he swells like this from that and needs to take Diruetics regularly to combat the swelling. Hope this information will help someone else!

Wow...all of your stories are so similar to my current predicament.  My swelling has been going on for 6 months now and still no real answers.  I think the doctors think I'm crazy and don't really believe me about the swelling (I think they just think I'm fat or something).  Sometimes the swelling is so bad that it leave indentations like pitting edema. Seven months ago, I was barely 100 pounds, very active, healthy eater, etc.  But suddenly I just started putting on weight and fast (45 pounds in two and a half months).  My face, neck, arms, legs, feet, abdomen; EVERYTHING is swollen.  I don't even recognize myself anymore.  My skin is so tight, shiny and sensitive to the touch.  My knees hurt really bad to bend, same type of pain in my back, feet, hands, elbows, everywhere.  I have random pulsing throbbing, like I'm hearing my heartbeat magnified in my ears or something.  I have shooting pains and just constantly hurt.  I'm not a pansy, I've got a pretty good pain tolerance, but this is getting hard to handle.  My swelling gets worse if I exercise; my whole body goes into severe swelling overdrive after I run, so I just can't do it anymore.  I also have been having intense thirst, an uncontrollable thirst that can't be quenched.  I've been having really weird skin problems; flushing red of skin and splotchy discoloration everywhere (white and purple/red at the joints).  I do have Raynauds, but it has gotten way worse when all these weirdo issues popped up.  I have gotten so much blood work done, everything keeps coming back negative - no lupus, no RA, no gout ,no thyroid problems, no to everything it seems.  My white blood count is always elevated (but not enough to concern the doctors), along with my MCV and MCH (once again, nothing that doctors flag as significant).  Right now a Rheumatologist is going to try to treat me for Fibromyalgia just to see if it works because when he put me on Prendisone, it helped with the pain I was experiencing (but was non-effective in regards to the swelling).  I would be so grateful to anyone who has had any true success at diagnosis.  This illness has literally turned my life upside down and I'm just desperately searching for answers...the doctors have not been very helpful or caring :(  Thank you so much and good luck to all those going through this same stuff.
