It does sound like Fybromyaligia.. It's not easy trying to find ways to deal with it. Fighting the pain and fatique on a daily basis is devistating and changes your llife so much. I've had it for 10 years. For the energy I do vitamins, Vitamin C 2 to 4 a day. A multi-vitamin too. My mom used to buy all this usless stuff advertised on late night tv for pain that never worked. But one day she bought this cactus drnk that native americans used to use for inflammation, pain, arthritus etc. It took a few months but I started to see a difference and now swear by it. It's call Noplea, Made by Trivita.. The worst is having patience waiting for it to work but it's worth it. It used to take down my swelling but lately I'm swelling like a balloon loking for answers like all of you.. Seems something else is working on me. I just got a new supplement that gives me great energy, Dandelion. It is awesome! My third day on it and My whole body, energy , pain everything feels better so I hope this will stay good and help me. It's only $9.99 at probably any vitamin store. You should try it..Good luck on finding answers!! Hope you feel better =)

I personally had this problem.. very swollen hands, joint pain, got so bad that my feet would burn in the morning when trying to walk on them. Doctors tried everything, thought I had lupus, fibermiygla, RA all negative. I then tried a naturalpath doctor... he had me stop eating gluten for a month, to see if it would help. oh boy did that help.. turns out I have a gluten sensitivity and wasn't experiencing anything but the swelling and joint pain. Now being off of it for about 6 months I feel so much better, however I can tell when I have gluten.. I swell up like a balloon almost right after! I would suggest giving it a try.. what's the worst that can happen? it's only a diet change..

Me too. I had vaginal problems for months and months. It wasn't a yeast or a bacterial infection and finally I had a GYN RN say that it was an autoimmune condition and the answer was steroid suppositories (in the vagina). I had a lot of pain from the condition but the steroids also gave me pain. The nurse kept saying that I needed to finish the month out. When I started to taper (every other day) all of a sudden my legs swelled up. Then it moved to my abdomen, then my arms and my neck. It isn't edema and there isn't water gain. Sometimes it seems gloppy under the skin and sometimes just very very puffy. I exercise and I eat very carefully but nothing seems to change it, it just keeps spreading. Blood tests, Cat scan and tests for lupus are negative. I had to change doctors because my PCP said What did I think, we had body scanners like in STar Trek? Then she suggested I go to therapy because I seemed stressed out.

Previously I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but really I think the diagnosis is not very helpful. Probably what they call fibromyalgia is really a whole bunch of autoimmune diseases and they don't understand any of them. My present theory is that the steroids kicked off some other dimension of the autoimmune world. I also wonder about adrenal fatigue. Anyone know about that?

I too have had a fast onset of weight gain, the first thing I outgrew was my wedding ring that I had not had to size after 18 years!  Over the last year, I have been seeing doctors and getting all types of tests.  I am now waiting on results from a allergy test.  My doctor say's that I check out overall, but she believes that I am reacting to something that I am eating.  I am in my 40's, active, healthy eater, but gained 20 pounds in 3 months! I do not have answers, but maybe check into allergies.  I also see some of these posts sound like progesterone deficiency, check that out on the internet.  I wish each of you the best...

I have EXACTLY the same things happen to me...I am normally 7 and a half stone and used to be a big eater but never ever put on as much as an ounce...Now my whole body is swollen even my feet...I have just today had to buy footwear in a size 5 and yet all my life i have been a size 4.. I too am very strong minded, do exercise and more.. It is making me so depressed...Several years ago i had an operation for gallstones...(was on HRT at the time) 2 days later i was back in hospital with pneumonia and a blood clot on my lung..One patient told me if i was going on to Warfarin i should come off the HRT..She said she had been on both at the same time which lead her to having Cancer...I am so not used to being like this..It only happened a few weeks ago...I feel like an elephant...I currently have more kdiney stones (Calcium) but i had bigger stones 2 years ago but didnt bloat out like this..I hope and pray someone can give me a reason for this...If you find anything out please let me know.

i started to swell up all over about 4 weeks ago, i have been to several doctors and in the hospital twice, i just left the neurologist and still have no answers. if i sip water through the day vs. drinking my symptoms of swelling, feeling faint, slight headache and pins and needles are not as bad. what did you find out? my mom said to try benadryle and that it may be hives from the cold and that the hives are under the skin causing the swelling. i will have to wait and see if that will work. willing to try anything.

Wheat allergy!! Research foods that do not have wheat in them and only eat those, remove all sugar (I'm sorry, even alcohol!), no soda, lots of veggies and take a very good refrigerated probiotic. Give your body time to heal itself but you should notice some reduction of swelling from a couple of days to two weeks. I have undergone the lupus tests, the misdiagnosis of multiple diseases and do have Hashimoto's disease as well (hypothyroid). The prescribed water pills, diet pills, sonograms and wasted doctor visits did not help the food allergy. If you can, get a complete food allergy panel done. The swelling will go away and you will start to feel energized, focused and better all around. Good luck and I hope this helps your health.

I forgot to mention that wheat never bothered me until I was about 27 or so. We all know that bodies change so even if you may not have had an allergy to wheat before now, your body may have developed one.

I have a related situation as yours, but my swelling is related to eating glutamate. Eating gluten can give me the reaction too since gluten is high in glutamate, but many other things high in glutamate also give me this reaction like split pea soup, sauteed mushrooms, and almost all processed foods. I used to be baffled at why I tended to swell up, and many others in my family swell up too. Then i had to start cooking all my food from scratch because my daughter had a long list of food allergies, and I had more insight and control over what I was eating, which allowed me to figure out what was causing it. My family still blames their swellings on salt and don't at all try to figure out if it is related to glutamate. I don't blame them. Giving up eating added glutamate means pretty much cooking all your own food from scratch. It is a big endeavor.
