Mine started in 1987 right after I had several teeth filled. I thought at first it was just pain from the fillings, but as time went on and the pain continued, I didn't know what it was. It's always the first bite, of anything, sour things are the worst though. The pain is in both sides of my jaw and extends to my ears. I don't have the swelling at all, just the pain. I always thought I was the only one with this problem. I've always wondered if it's an allergic reaction to my fillings? I hope someone finds an answer for this, because it would be wonderful to be able to take that first bite without pain.

I was on this site about a year ago, looking for reasons I had this acute pain in my parotid glands after I first ear things. In Feb, I was diagnosed with Sjogrens syndrome, and went on a medication called Hydroxychlor. I agreed to try it mainly to see if it would help this pain, and it did. I don't know how it affects these glands, but as Sjogrens affect the saliva glands, I do see where there could be a connection. I just wanted to pas this along if it could be helpful to anyone.

I had severe pain in my fingers from just tapping them on a desk or hitting them against anything. It is a symptom of Beri Beri. All you have is a vitamin deficiency. Go get some B vitamins and take them every day.

I have had this when i eat vinegar and also i think from carbohydrates but for sure vinegar...I have the pain right now and at least i have found others :) that gives me a sigh of relief :)

I had a extremely bad cold and used a lot of lemon and honey for my throat at this time my ear hurt So Bad from both the lemon/honey i forgot i also used vinegar in this sore throat drink...i went to the dr. and he looked in my ear and said nothing is wrong with my ear and looked at me like im one of "those" kinds of people who where its all in your "mind"

Gosh Id really like some help if anyone is willing to guide ?

I guess i will try a dentist as one of the post's said, i am not with income costly visits like these.

Does anyone know what foods to avoid in the mean time

I already eat a low carb diet thats why i end up adding vinegar to my meal to give it some kind of taste as i dont use pepper and spice either

Kindly Teresa

find a doctor that will aspirate these swellings. Takes 3,4 or 5 times maybe but works very well. I ave been free of these very painful lumps for many years now

ALWAYS !!!!!! go to your family doctor first. He'll send you to specialist if required, you need a referral anyway.
