Hello,

I have the same issue. I have been dealing with swollen salivary glands that secrete white stringy stuff for about 13 years and no doctor knows what to do about it. I do have something that will at least ease the pain. Every morning and every night, I get about 1/3 cup of peroxide and 1/3 cup of listerine antiseptic in a cup. I place the cup in the microwave for about 10 secs. I take the mixture and swish it around in my mouth. I still have the white secretion, but the pain is much less than what it was. I pray this helps you or anyone because I completely understnad your pain.

I've had swollen submandibular salivary gland on left side with thick white stringy or thick yellowish mucous coming out, more than onc.  If there was a stone I never saw it - just really thick 'plugs' of what is probably mucous.  I learned from my dentist how to 'express' the mucous by pressing inside the mouth under the tongue from back to front, while at the same time pressing in the same direction under the jaw.  you can't miss where to press because it will feel slightly hard and will hurt like the dickens.  One thing that HELPED was putting Eucalyptus Citriodora (Lemon-Eucalyptus) essential oil on the skin with a warm compress - sppllppp! Out comes the gunk!

I had this condition begin about fifteen years ago. I had pain in my ear and thought I was getting an ear infectiion. I went to the Doctor who said my ears looked great. Left the visit with  my daughter and took her for an ice cream. As I began to eat the ice cream, a golf ball size lump appeared behind my ear! I called a friend of mine who is a dental hygienist and ask her if a salivary gland could become blocked. She confirmed, that yes it could. I made an appointment with an ENT, and he confirmed a salivary stone. He put me on an anitbiotic and said it was best to try to pass the stone. After weeks of total agony, I felt something sharp on my inner cheek near the upper back teeth. I scraped it off with my finger, and a flood of saliva flowed out. Total releif followed. I have since had similar symptoms in the glands that drain under my tongue. Now I take an old sock and fill it with dry rice and tie it shut. Microwave for two minutes, and then apply the heat to the gland for as long as I can take it, while pushing on the gland. It has worked for me to allow the devil to drain!

Have been dealing with this for over 7 years. Started 1 day out of the blue...no doctor can tell me what's going on. Just need to know how to stop it. It's simply painful and annoying! Same as everyone else. White stringy substance. No infections, no stones, blood work clear as ever...

Me too...the thick stringy mucus comes out of my submandibular glands under my tounge and my left parotid gland.I have had salivary gland test and cat scans. Been checked out by an Ent all negative. I have had a surgery to open up one of my submandibular salivary glands due to a stricture. The thick mucus kept getting stuck. The surgery opened it up so it could flow more freely. I'm starting to believe that it is an autoimmune response to something, maybe allergies. the only thing that seems to help lessen my symptoms is hydration and Zyrtec or some type of antihistamin.

Please get tested for Lyme Disease!!! Not only is it the great imitator but it also suppresses your immune system causing dormant auto immune diseases to surface!

I've dealt with this condition for over 8 years and is now occurring more frequently. It's a daily battle with all four major salivary glands. Ive been through rounds of testing throughout the years only to be told by doctors that maybe it's stress or that maybe I'm not disclosing enough information about myself. I've been repeatedly tested for GOV and Sjogrens syndrome and also persistently told I should seek psychological help as it may be all in my head. I finally started to takes pictures and video to document the external swelling as well as the stringy excretions and now can be bappy to say I am scheduled for surgery in the next few days. My new ENT has agreed to dilate my glands, do a fine needle aspiration on my most problematic gland, and to another biopsy minor salivary gland. Im nervous and cautiously optimistic. Not sure how I will feel immediately afterwards but I'll make sure to come back periodically to give you all am account of my results. Wish me luck!
