I'm a young teen and im currently in my summer holidays hence i've been going to bed quite late, could that be the cause for my eyes to be swollen every morning?
It feels like i have a huge weight on my eyelids and i struggle to keep my eyes open, and i also look & feel tired just like some of the people here.

I've had it for going on 3 daysnow, i think i got it from putting on face paint and not taking it off correctly... so the best thing to do is retrace ur steps on what you did around ur eye...
I still have it, but it's going away from 3 solutions...
1. Hot compress
2. I put this medicine called Iodex
3. I smashed an oregano plant and took a cloth to hold it against my eye... (the big oregano plants that are really fuzzy)
it hasnt gone away, but so far it's gotten less severe in only a few hours...

HOw long has your eyelid been swollen? Has the swelling gone down? I've been told that you should try a little bit of jasmine in a tea bag to help the swelling go down. It's a recipe that my grandmother told me about. What do you think?

Take a banana peel, cut about a 2 inch square from it. Pour 2 tea spoons of hot Saguaro cactus juice on the inside of the peel and place over swollen eye. Swelling should be gone in a few hours to a day.

I seem to have this too, and I could be wrong but it seems to be coupled with a little skin problem I have going on too: my eyelids are also very dry and the skin seems to be flakey
I have no idea what to do

I think a good thing for the skin is a teabag compression, with green tea or jasmine or something along those lines. Have you tried that before?

try putting an ice pack or an ice cube wrapped in toilet paper on your eye when you go to sleep..

In response to the person who mentioned a skin problem in relation to the eyelid problem - YOU'RE RIGHT!!! I've been dealing with various eyelid problems for 20 years!!!! A long time ago the eyelid swelling usually happened when I was over-tired, stressed and dehydrated. Now, the eyelid problems and eye infections are all the time. I finally found a doctor who told me the real story.... I have beginning stages of ocular rosacea. The red bumps I keep getting on my face - those are from rosacea and my eyes are really going to be in trouble if I don't manage this well. It has something to do with all the fluids working together in the eye area. When certain substances are low and oil is blocked - eyelids can't breathe and they swell up!! See the eye doctor and drink a lot of water and use hot compresses AND wash your eyelids all the time.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to figure out what the issue and 'm surprised that issue even exists. can you tell me more about ocluar rosacea?

It looks like little red capillarys have broken on my eyelids. It isn't that bad, but I can tell that over the last year it has gotten worse. IF only I knew that I should have been taking care of myself better! Here's a few things:
light sensitivity
inflamation of the eylids
dry eyes that sting
The dry eyes are easily infected because there is nothing blocking out the bacteria
Gritty feeling in the eyes
I am trying to find out why I have this. I have VERY fair skin ....I can tell when I drink wine/beer and lots of caffeine that the eyelids go crazy...if only I knew that I should have been drinking tons of water and avoiding any bacteria near my eyelids.
I'm using artificial tears, and an eyelid scrub. I am also supposed to be using hot compresses 2 times a day. This is going to be for the rest of my life?? Oh no....

i had the exact same thing. i just woke up one morning and my left eyelid was really swollen. it hurt a to touch it and it just seemed to get worse everyday. by day 3 or 4 i decided to go to a doctor and he prescribed me these eye drops (says sulfacetamide sodium ophthalmic solution usp, 10% on bottle) that im suppose to take 2 drops 4x a day for 5 days. this is only day two ive been using them and my eye is looking much better, but im pretty sure it might have just started getting better on its own. ive also been doing the warm compress thing as much as i can. oh and btw, what the doctor said i have is just a stye. pretty common. i was really scared at first and thought it was just gunna continue to get worse but now its slowly getting better...im gunna go put another warm compress on it :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

People, I also have this issue, and have for about 4 days now. After reading everything on the net to try to get some insight one thing is has become extremely clear - I should go to the doctor, and so should any of you who are having the issue. Why try compresses, benadryl, etc having no idea what it really is, then let it get so bad you HAVE to go to the doctor? Catch it early, get it checked. Having said that, I live in Canada. I don't know if this would cost money in the US. Good luck.
