I have this too and it went away when I got a warm air humidifier. It is a pain because you have to clean them every day and weekly as well but it was worth it! My humidifier broke recently and it alllll came back. Going to get a new one soon!

I have had this problem for nearly 2 years, I could not find any solution to this and yes I know what the feeling is like (you constantly have to swallow your phlegm or try gather as much as you can at the back of your throat so that you can swallow it at once so it stops irritating).
I have been to the specialists many times and there was no solution to this until I went to a homeopath and had a lot of tests done, the homeopath proved to me that I was intolerant to 54 types of food which was a shock to me as I am a propper foodie. These types of foods included (dairy, wheat, beer, pork, sugar) and so many more that I can’t think of right now. I had stopped eating what he had told me and I had felt much better within a month but he told me that I could slowly start introducing them to my diet again. So I did, I started eating it all again and then i realized that it wasn’t a good idea as I still have that problem. This diet will start for me again today.

I am 52 and in excellent health and I have been getting this for the last few months after battling what seemed to be a mild flu which I got over quickly.

I'm into Natural health common vitamins and supplements and I take herbs and other natural cures as much as possible. I've been noticing the same thing as some others that in the morning I will have thick green saliva but it is not filled with mucus it's just a dense green color it goes away throughout the day but if I sleep for several hours it starts to come back. I use mouthwash at least twice a day and gargle each time but it was still there.

I had purchased a product called hydrasense scented nasal care. Eucalyptus nasal mist about a year earlier to help clear up some sinus congestion. I was using saline solutions several times a day to try to get rid of this odd green mucus which I presumed was coming from the nasal passages since it only happened when I was sleeping. I was also extremely fatigued and I would sleep 11 or 12 hours a day and a few hours after I woke up I was already feeling tired which is very unusual for me so I did some research and found that is one of the symptoms of a sinus infection which I usually never get .. In fact I never recall having one ever in my life.

So I tried the eucalyptus nasal mist which is pretty strong when you inhale it up the nose. Eucalyptus is known for its many health benefits and is known for its anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, deodorant, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-microbial properties.

As soon as I started to use this product, I felt the head congestion and fatigue immediately begin to lift and the next morning the dark green mucus was now a very light green color. After using it each night before bed within a few days the dark green mucus was gone. I stopped using the product in about a week or two later I noticed it started to come back so I probably needed to keep using it for a longer period of time to completely eliminate the sinus infection.

Since many people on this site have been to doctors and have had many different antibiotic use with no benefit I figured I would share this as something else to try. You might also want to consider colloidal silver nasal sprays which is another effective antibiotic. I tried this myself and it was not really working which is why I tried to use the eucalyptus spray again and I have had much better results because of it.

You can also get the Eucalyptus essential oil at most health food stores and add several drops to a saline nasal spray solution you might already have. Don't go crazy and put ten drops or even 5 in a bottle of nasal spray as the stuff is very strong. Start off with just a couple of drops and add 1 more if you feel you need it stronger.

I also found that taking garlic oil capsules was also a further help with the fatigue and I generally felt better after taking two 1000mg capsules of garlic oil per day to.

now that I think back this all started after getting an unusual dry cough that many people seem to have due to the constantly changing weather as well as the fact that my girlfriend works in a hospital and she may have also brought that home, though as mentioned other people I knew at work and I places I had only just visited once were also experiencing a similar constant dry cough at that time.

So it seems that the infection from the lungs migrated to the sinuses as those tissues are connected and that the combination of the eucalyptus oil and garlic oil capsules are working very well to clear it up as both of them have antimicrobial and antibiotic properties.

I just wanted to share my experiences in this since neither of these approaches with the Eucalyptus spray or garlic oil capsules was yet mentioned.

Best of health to everyone!

I've been gargling salt water 2x a day, before bed, and when I wake after breakfast. A proper gargle, 30s each time full glass of warm salt water until it's all gone. Green mess seems to be clearer than usual after a waking from sleep, still apparent during the day but it is better. Anyhow a very simple idea that helps a bit.
