I have had a throat infection of some sort for several days. Pus pockets covering both tonsils and pain. I haven't been to the doctor because I am just taking some leftover antibiotic from my last infection. This morning, however, I woke up feeling almost like I was choking. I jumped up and ran to the bathroom sink and began coughing and coughing trying to free my throat. I looked down in horror to see chunks of thick green stuff. I mean, really thick and really green. I am perplexed as to what it is because I have absolutely no mucous coming out of my nose and no mucous in my lungs. Can you please help me in telling me what it is that I can do to make sure I don't wake up like that again? It is really gross and scary!!

Hi! It does sound like you have got some type of throat infection (which probably won't require antibiotics) but honestly, don't worry too much. Even if you don't hvae mucus obviously coming out of your nose, it doesn't mean that it can collate in your throat, and even if it is lumpy it is still higly likely that's what it is. I bet your throat felt much better when you'd got it out too! See how things go and if it doesn't clear up like a normal cold go and see the doc, but I suspect it probably will do, Good luck!
