I had 2 crushed thoracic vertebrae, #5 and #7 from a fall. I had surgery on one of them, #5 a month ago and the #7 on Nov. 1st. I seem to feel okay most mornings, but by mid afternoon or so my upper back aches between my shoulder blades, and I find it necessary to sit down with my back against pillows. I cannot for instance lean against the back of a folding chair, or anything firm. Most nights I unable to stay in bed all night. I must sit up a couple of hours and then I am able to go back to bed for a couple of hours. Do I need physical therapy? Are there restrictions after this type of surgery? My surgeon said to follow up with my primary care but this is not her area. She said to contact my surgeons office. What type of Doctor should I be looking for to follow up with? I am not getting return calls from my surgeons nurse since my surgery. Before and during surgery they were great! I'm floundering, need some help but don't know where to turn. Thank you! Carol A.
