Great to know your surgery went well. I have surgery scheduled the end of the month to have the right side of my thyroid removed. I have already talked to the surgeon. I have an enlarged thyroid nodule on the right side. My neck is tight all the time and I tend to get headaches. I hope this stops after the surgery.

I was just reading total thyroidectomy cases and I just came across your case. Sorry for sharing late on the experience I have. I don't know how far you have gone on your case, but I would recommend to go ahead with the Near Total Thyroidectomy instead of Complete Thyroidectomy. Why I am saying this, because you have less chances of having surgery side-effects when it is Near total, but with complete chances of losing your voice are high. Also, better to remove the carcinoma. Unless you have a very special nutritionist who can guarantee you a regime that can kick out the carcinoma. Otherwise if not just get rid of the small swelling. You avoid it being metastatic and the closest area is the Lung underneath......

Who loses their breath and voice at times after thyroid surgery? It's been a year and I still do! I had a total thyroidectomy. I get so tired and no one seems to understand or care! What can I do?
