Hi Cindyh:
My research is telling me that adult recovery time is longer than that of a child's. I'm seeing 15 to 20 days. Apparently there are phases to the recovery that include about a ew days for the anesthesia to wear off completely; about 1 week of a severe sore throat (soothed by meds), then continuing with soft foods, comfort levels, etc......15 to 20 days. Give yourself adequate recovery time. Many times people have surgery, and as soon as they seem to be feeling better, they get back into their usually routine.....Shortly thereafter comes a setback because they got back on their feet to quickly. This, of course, extends the recovery time. As you know, everyone is different and your health condition will affect your personal recovery time. At least give yourself the recommended time and then go from there.....I' hope you will recover fully and quickly.....

Okay, that makes me feel better. I had a tonsilectomy 11 days ago. My doctor gave me a note that I could return to work today, however, I ended up calling in sick today because I still have no energy, a sore throat, and still can not eat much. On top of that, my stomach is now bothering me. Maybe it's because I am hungry all the time, or reaction to the medicine. I do feel better than I did a week ago, but not as well as I had hoped. I now see it may take another week or so to feel back to normal. Thanks for your feedback.
