Wow I have exactly the same symptoms. I am 22 years old, generaly healthy, yet have problematic tonsils, had mono and have something like a cyst under the right tonsil. I also noticed ulcer like things close to the tonsil and slightly swollen lymphe nodes on that side. Because I was worried i set up a doctors appointment for this week. I am happy to learn that those simptoms probably aren't that serious before I go to the doctors.

I got strep throat at the beginning of this semester. After that, I had some congestion, but that cleared up. Soon after that, I got a dry cough. After that, I started noticing that I was getting canker stores. I typically never get canker sores. I also was experiencing major heart burn for a few weeks, so I started eating more healthy, but it still occasionally comes back. I have also recently started snoring, which I never like usually do. I have been getting slight headaches Lately, and have felt that itchy ear feeling a few times this past week. To top it all off, my tonsils are swollen, red, and lumpy! I do not have a white bump anywhere that I have seen, but maybe it's hidden. Also, I have the sensation that there is something stuck in the back of my throat that I can't swallow!
It's been three months since I first got strep throat.
I'm so glad I stumbled across this because I was afraid I had cancer or something! I need to schedule an appointment with a doctor to make sure, but this has at least put my mind to rest for now.

I have what I researched to be an inclusion cyst in my left palentine tonsil my ENT Md calls it a mucocele.
The left tonsil is also inflammed and causes a feeling of ear fullness and pressure like one experiences at high altitude. The cyst is almost as large as a pencil eraser.
My ENT md won't drain it (cause itvwill come back) and won't excise due to the highly vascular nature of the tonsil, wants to remove my palentine tonsils as only curative procedure for the mucocele.

Me too - saw my dentist Saturday and he isn't worried but showing the pic to his friend who is an oral surgeon today. Worried but I see tonsil cysts are quite normal - just happened to find it this past week. Left tonsil (palatine) and it looks like a bubble/sac - whitish. UGH!

I have a mucous cyst on my tonsil, ENT said the only way to get rid of it is to take out my tonsils, I asked, "do I have to get my tonsils out?" he said no... but wants to see me in a month to see if it's grown, if so.. he recommends getting them out. I don't want to get my tonsils removed, never been placed under anesthesia and I'm nervous. Anyone find an alternative to getting this mucous cyst to go away?

Hi,
I also went to the doctor because I had a white spot on my right tonsil that had doubled in size within 2 weeks and was painful and my glands had increased in size although I didn't have a temperature. My white cell count had increased showing infection (from blood test result). I had noticed the white spot initially about 6 months ago after a bad case of flu. He sent me for a CT scan and the result was Quincy/right peritonsillar abscess with cystic component. He referred me to an urgent ENT specialist appointment. I also have a really bad gag reflex, but they sprayed a numbing agent into the back of my throat and also up my nose. That helped reduce my gag reflex and they were able to examine my tonsil and also put a camera up my nose to look at the back of my throat behind my tonsil (that wasn't too bad with the numbing agent). They started me on antibiotics and the white spot reduced after a week. The ENT specialist said that my tonsils are very badly damaged from previous tonsillitis and glandular fever that I had when I was 25 (I was so ill!). They have said that they need to be removed urgently. I am waiting for an appointment to come through for the tonsillectomy. Anyway, the numbing agent that they sprayed into my throat seems to have reduced my gag reflex and continues to do so even 2 weeks later! Hope this helps!

... I also had the feeling that something was stuck on the right side of my throat. Since the cyst has reduced in size I don't have that feeling anymore.
