Currently on day 9 post op. While I've been lucky enough not to go back to ER at all, keeping hydrated, I haven't yet had solids. Well, I tried too at dinner and I'm in a whole new world of pain, so will be waiting another few days lol. Thanks for sharing! And the best part is hearing it was all worth it, coz you feel so crappy for (what feels like) so long. Good to know! :D

Few things i have noticed.. Im on my 16th day after surgery.. For me the pain was the worst on the night of the surgery, i kept spitting out my own saliva into tissues because i couldnt swallow it. I had similar problem to you, but i also had chronic tonsillitis Which Made me cough a lot and it also messed up my singing often... My tonsils were also very huge so my full recovery takes a bit longer.. The days after the surgery werent so bad for me only the mornings but i took 2-3 flector rapid per Day with 2 advil ultra forte.. I ate a shitload of lactose & sugar free ice cream which didnt make mucus... Also mornings sucked but after taking my flector i ate cold lactose and sugar free pudding so the pain was better. The ice cream was really really helping but i was already eating solid food from day 2, the doctor said,. The sooner i do the better,. ( this is only true if your scar has been cauterized after surgery and not stiched) i was already eating Rice and chicken and chocolate butter biscuits on day 3 and also pasta.. Avoid spicy, alkohol and hot stuff.. I had no after bleed at all and even tho it wasnt so painless i was drinking 6-7 liters of water.. Apple Juice is also good but for me it wasnt comfortable till like day 7... Cold is good for you, it lowers the chance of after bleed and lowers the inflation & pain.. I wish evweryone the best luck, Its really worth the pain :) no more coughing for me and singing has been never so easy and comfortable!

If you asked from me: I am not sure if i had tonsil stones because i've never checked them to be honest, but my breath also smelled bad all the time so probably yes, i had tonsil stones.. i am doing perfectly fine today, i can't sing with my full voice yet, just quietly, that'll take another 10 days max... the mornings are not bad either anymore :)

Hi vatix: thanks for your response. :-) i am 17 years old and actually, i am dealing with this tonsil stones and having bad breath. i dont have tonsilitis. But all i want is to cure my tonsils.. I dont know if my ENT will recommend me to removed it only because of those stones coming from it. it was disgusting. i dont want to go to school everyday being self conscious about my bad breath. :( i hope for your good recovery! godbless.

Tonsil stone isn't curable by medications hence you can ask for surgery. If you are 17 now i'd recommend you to have them removed, since the pain isn't so bad as other ppl describe it, it's bearable. The younger you are, the less time you will take to recover.. 17 is still a good age:) Despite what everyone says about tonsils, they aren't as useful as they seem to be, especially if you are an adult. I hope this helped:)

Hi vatix: thank you for your reply. I appreciated it very much. It helps me a lot and its a life giving hope. But I've got some research that there are people who got their tonsils out, still having that stones. Its weird coz all the pain that they suffer after the surgery was not worth it. And i was thinking if this might be also happen to me. How about you? Do you think its worth it? how old are you? I hope for your update about your recovery. Thank you :) :)

Tonsil stones can only remain after the surgery, if the ENT surgeon messed up the surgery and he/she didn't remove your tonsils completely, just partially. The chance of this is very rare, and not likely to happen. I'm 21 years old, and my tonsils were bad since i was like 11... I am also a singer , and i didn't only have a bad breath, but my hair became thinner, my voice sounded completely different than now ( and not in a good way , not even my singing voice is cleaner ) , and i had acnes on my face and chest.. This was ALL caused by my bad tonsils ! So answering to your question, yes: It was totally , 100% worth it for me, and i would do it again definitely :) The scars haven't fallen of completely but my breath smells 100x better with those scars than before the surgery. Before i used to clean my teeth like 2-3 times a day and my mouth still stinked, now i wash it 1-2x day , and it doesn't smell at all. You shouldn't be afraid of the surgery, i had it in anasthesia, so i don't have memories of it. You can also do that. Many ppl say that it's dangerous, or worse but no, it's not true. You have a lot of examination, blood, hearth etc... These make anasthesia safer.. The pain was only bad on my first night, but i had extra big tonsils , so my scar was extra big too. Yours won't hurt as much as mine. And if i say it was bearable then it was, because i'm extra sensitive to throat pain, and i still managed to live it through :)

I just had my tonsils removed after suffering with tonsils stones for... who knows how long? Now thinking back I remember when I was a teenager sometimes spitting out small white balls thinking it was just food that had got stuck in some holes in my throat? I didn't know what to think as i'd never heard of anything like this before. I also remember a friend telling me my breath really stunk, but I always cleaned my teeth?..I only discovered that tonsil stones existed 1 &1/2 years ago after visiting a doctor in Nepal!! (I'm from UK) Why is this such a hidden disorder?? I was suffering from constant throat pain in India for over a year which led me to see so many doctors & specialists. I also noticed my partner pulling away from my face as if she had smelt something awful! So I decided to have a good look in the back of my throat, had a poke around, and discovered these white balls of (the worst smell in the world!) Rotten sh*t! I was shocked, disgusted & devastated. I kept squeezing and more and more of this white sh*t came out! How much could fit in? & how long had it been there for??!!

Because I was living in India I couldn't afford the surgery of getting tonsils removed and had to wait for a very long time to get them removed in UK. I didn't feel I could kiss my partner properly, was always pulling away, scared she would leave me because the smell was so bad... it was awful. Constantly squeezing & spitting & gargling.. i felt trapped in my own throat.

Yesterday I had my tonsils removed... so far so good. I'm on codine, paracetamol & ibuprofen. I've been able to eat normally & drinking lots. Started getting a little fever today, but after drinking lots of water and sucking on ice lollies that's calmed down... I'm hoping I don't get this high 9-10 pain... lets see...
