Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help put me at ease. Everyone seems to be talking about a lump "feeling" which I have but I also see a physical lump on either side. It almost looks like small tonsils. I'm 24 and had my tonsils out 5 weeks ago. I'm terrified they're growing back as I saw that happens to some people although it's rare. I do see the white/yellow stiches or scar tissue everyone is talking about too. I'm just so worried since it's not smooth. It legitimately looks like tiny tonsils. Oh god please don't come back tonsils :( the nurse didn't sound worried when I told her this (she laughed when I asked about them growing back but it's a legit concern!). I have an appointment for a few weeks from now in case it's not better but any feedback on if anyone formed actual lumps thatd be great. Thank you!

Hi there, im day 12 post op and have the weirdest feeling in my throat now like somethings always stuck either side, plus my uvula is still huge and annoying. When did all this finally go away for you?

Thanks for your input. I had mine out end of December and still feel like there is something in the back of my throat. Some of the same feeling. My Dr. said not to worry until the end of March so I am trying to be patient. I was wondering if this is going to be the new normal. Just a pain right now. Eating and drinking is no problems. Glad I googled this.

Did you ever get better?? I’m 32, 9 months out and miserable. I have feeling of something stuck in the right side only, terrible mouth burning, and a painful, numb tongue in the very back right side. This has absolutely ruined my life. Doctor claims nothing wrong and that he has never heard of anything like this - aka I’m crazy. I’m exhausted and drained. Please let me know if you ever found relief!!

I had my tonsillectomy 8 1/2 weeks ago. I had bleeding afterwards 4 times (but no cauterization as it stopped itself). The Tonsils are healed but I have had more issues with the back of my tongue and throat. When I had the bleeding they thought it was from the wound on the back of my tongue from the clamps which had reopened and that is better, although I still can't drink really acidic things like white wine I can live with not drinking things like that. Now I seem to have developed a tickle from the left side where the abscess was which turns into a cough that comes from the throat where it is still lumpy from the tubes. There have also been very tiny bits of scabs also coming out of the throat every now and then. The last little bit came out with phlegm and the remains of chocolate mouse that I'd just eaten for lunch as well. I could feel something wanted to shift. That happened at my desk at work - lovely. Doesn't help that I had a cold 6 weeks post op to which had more phlegm to.

I had my tonsils out three weeks ago this coming Tuesday. I went for my post on on May1,2018. He said everything looked great. But my throat still hurts. It still feels swollen and hurts to swallow. Still makes my ears hurt sometimes too. My pain was pretty bad after ward and my face was swollen for the first week afterward. But why does everything still hurt

Hi I am almost 6 weeks post tonsillectomy and am having the exact same thing. Looks like little tonsils are coming back and they weren’t there a few weeks ago. Did you ever find out what they are?? This is freaking me out thinking they’re growing back! Thanks!!

Did the pain ever go away? I'm post op day 6 and besides my dry mouth, the pain is so bad I can't eat or drink anything. Ice chips even hurt.
I haven't been able to eat in days. The pain in unreal. I went to hospital today because of it, I got a shot of morphine which didn't help much.
I have pain meds that I can't take cuz it's in a syrup form with some alcohol in it. The pain it causes is indescribable. I was screaming last.tine I took it. Then ended up bleeding.
It's been horrible.
My doctor's don't care. They refuse to help me. They did the surgery and that's it. They won't help with with follow ups or anything.

Hi.i'm at 6 weeks past tonsillectomy.having strange feeling as if something stuck in the throat..mostly on the right side and rarely on the other but never at the same need..sensation is felt when swallowing..not painfull but mostly discomfortable...how long did your discomfort last..did you feel the same?some the sensation worst after eating?

I had the same feeling sents I had same thing done like you 8 years ago and still have the feeling it feels like a knot in my back of throat I been to the Dr about it all the time. he said its still scar tissue I said really. I ask my dr to remove it please I am so tired of this Mucus and another thing I do still get Scar tissue up in my throat still.. do you have anything I can do or have you figure it out yet to.. I heard take 1 Tsp Salt with 8 oz of glass of water and gargle it. I am so tired of people getting on me about me haveing to get it up. please help me thank you.

Suzie, how are you doing now? I am afraid to get a tonsillectomy but I would only be getting it on one side. I have a large tonsil stone on that one side that needs to be removed but they apparently can’t get it out without removing the whole tonsil. The ENT mentioned scar tissue thing to me making it worse for my swallowing but another ENT said it wouldn’t effect my swallowing so I can’t decide. I keep on getting infections from it as well but I am wondering if it’s worth getting that over not swallowing since I think I already have scar tissue in my throat from GERD. How are you now? Did the scar tissue eventually go away and is your swallowing normal now?
