Hi, I wanted to know if anyone has experience with this. I'm circumcised and was incorrectly diagnosed with a yeast infection by a urologist who told me to use betamethasone/clotrimazole cream for a month 3x a day. They told me it was ultra safe and never mentioned it was a very potent steroid. After stopping, I broke out with what I thought was a rash and went to a dermatologist who informed me that I should have never used this. After months of searching, I've discovered it's likely topical steroid withdrawal. Everything makes the skin worse. There's a patch that's bright red and the rest of the skin is somewhat discolored in that it has spots with basically no pigment now. I'm just leaving it alone at the advice of another doctor but is this anyone who's made it through this that has advice?
Hi, guest.
You already know that, but I need to say to the public that your problem is a difficult situation to address. The first step is to seek medical help to get a proper diagnosis so that an appropriate treatment plan can be developed. Treatment may include antifungal medications, topical ointments, and steps to reduce inflammation. A physician may also recommend lifestyle changes such as avoiding tight clothing, using non-soap cleansers, and wearing loose-fitting cotton underwear. It is also important to avoid substances that may irritate the penis such as perfumes, lotions, and harsh soaps.
Additionally, some patients may find that dietary changes such as reducing sugar intake or avoiding foods with yeast in them can help reduce symptoms.
Hope you found some relief in the meantime. Let us know how you are now.
