A different kind of training tales. I am curious to see what kind of animal/wildlife you see on a daily basis.

Racoons, Possum, rabbits are the norm. In the last couple of months I have seen a fox, and quite a few deer.

The fox and deer were very interesting considering how built up this area is.

Over the past couple of years,
Birds: too many to list- crows, sparrows, robins, woodpeckers (Northern flickers, sapsuckers, and pileateds), bald eagles, red-tailed & sharp shinned hawks, a grey owl, starlings, towhees, juncos, ducks of several types, Canada geese, gulls, herons, American goldfinches, house finches, red-winged blackbirds, kingfishers....etc
Others-
common: squirrels, dogs, cats, other humans
uncommon to rare- bullfrogs, garter snakes, raccoons, coyotes, skunks (dead ones), deer, rats, rabbits, a dead mole, shrew, salmon (in the rivers-currently spawning), river otters (Saw a family of them while running along the seawall 8O ), harbor seal (while running along the beaches/seawall)
Haven't seen a bear or cougar yet while running, (hopefully not :umno: ) though there was a black bear who visited our backyard twice last summer.

I don't know squat about birds, but I see some. I see some leashed dogs, small children, and when I run at the park reserve, I see ducks and geese (some crabby geese, at that)

Too many animals to list but nothing interesting. Just the standard urban dwelling critters.

Well since I actually got to run while it was light outside this morning I got to see several squirrels, some wood ducks and a fine 6 to 8 point buck along the Towpath trail.

Deer is pretty common, even better if I am running through the woods.
Other common occurrences: squirrels, chipmunks. I've almost tripped over a possum before-freaked both of us out.
Turkey is pretty common around here. I usually try to count how many in the herd as they run about-five to fifteen in a flock.
Fox is unusual. I think I have come across them twice in the last year-they are so fast, and so different, by the time I am wondering if they were a cat or a dog, I can figure out if was a fox.
Male deer in rutting season is my most unusal yet. I hope to keep it to that.

deer, one small fox, hawks, squirrels, a duck on takeoff almost took me out :umno:, geese and their poo, all the usual western PA stuff. feral cat colony at the track is really fun to watch. the three of them will line up on the path to watch people walk by but don't even try to get close to them or they disappear. beautiful long-haired calico cats but they are feral and there's no getting close. really odd sight.
