Tramadol withdrawal, how to make it as painless as possible?

Hi All, I am just on here looking for support. 

Up until January this year I was addicted to tramadol for about 3 and half years. I was regularly taking 1000mgs a day and whenever I couldn't get hold of tramadol I would use Nurofen Plus, about 30 a day, though i used tramadol more often than codeine. It came to a head when I overdosed on the tramadol and had a seizure at my desk at work. My dad and stepmum had their suspicions about my using but the whole sorry story came out when I was in the hospital after the fit. Like a true addict, I still finished off the tramadol that I had left over after the fit but I only had 8 x 100mgs tablets so by the Monday I was out of the tablets and decided to stop altogether. I went into work on the Monday (the fit happened Thursday afternoon) and by lunch time I was very poorly so went home. Luckily I was living with my parents at that time after the breakdown of a relationship. What followed was a week of utter hell. Throwing up constantly, unable to eat, terrible runs, restless legs so bad that I couldn't sleep, going from being so hot I felt like I was on fire to so cold that my skin physically hurt, the worst anxiety and depression I've ever felt and a total lack of energy. To help with the symptoms I took paracetomol, rescue remedy and the doctor gave me 5 days worth of zopiclone to help bring me down enough so that I could get a bit of rest. 

I went back to work after a week but the post acute symptoms persisted and I stupidly bought some over the counter co-codomol 8/500. Now I'm back on the 12.8 nurofen plus, of which I have been taking between 16 and 24 a day for several months now. I've had enough and haven't had any since about 1pm yesterday. I know I'm in for a rough ride but I really can't go through what I did when I came off tramadol, please can anyone offer any suggestions to try to make this as painless as possible, and to stay off it for good? Please, please help me.
