I have Pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA). I’ve had it for 3 months now. My dermatologist is fairly certain but we are still waiting for the biopsy results. My old spots healed and new ones stopped growing for a week after I spent a week in Costa Rica in the sun and sea. I wanted to know if any one here has experience with home remedies. He said the most likely course will be phototherapy but I am just curious how I can manage it from home.
Hi, Foxbird1990.
From my experience, unfortunately, there is no known cure for PLEVA with home remedies. However, there are some lifestyle changes and natural remedies that may help manage the condition and its symptoms.
- Keep skin moisturized and hydrated: Making sure that your skin is hydrated and moisturized can help reduce inflammation and irritation associated with PLEVA. Use a gentle and fragrance-free moisturizer to keep skin hydrated.
- Avoid irritants: Avoiding contact with known irritants such as certain fabrics, detergents, and soaps can help reduce inflammation and irritation.
- Avoid sun exposure: Sun exposure can worsen PLEVA symptoms, so it’s important to wear protective clothing and sunscreen when going outdoors.
- Reduce stress: Stress can worsen PLEVA symptoms, so it’s important to find healthy ways to manage stress such as yoga, meditation, and exercise.
- Limit alcohol consumption: Excessive alcohol consumption can worsen PLEVA symptoms, so it’s important to limit your alcohol consumption.
- Eat a healthy diet: Eating a healthy diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables can help reduce inflammation and provide key nutrients
By applying these guidelines, I am pretty sure you will have it under control.
