I wasn't given any meds for my issues, an antibiotic was only fed through my IV during the surgery and for 12 hrs afterward due to being admitted to hospital because I couldn't void.

<3I am on my 6th week now after TVT surgery last Sept 12....yes i feel im not 100% empty after voiding, but its far better rather than suffer stress incontinence ! now i could proudly say i have more freedom...during daytime at work i only wear ordinary panty liner as well as at bedtime ! what else could i ask for ??? even if i cough i don't have leakage !!! though if i stayed up on my feet (standing and mobilising) for my whole day work honestly its quite sore on my belly (where the surgery site is) i just rest and have pain reliever then my life is back to normal ! ...about incomplete emptying ? it does'nt worry me ...i just count from 1-10 while seating on the loo leaning forward and then voila i will void again ...that's what u called 2nd voiding ...i'm truly grateful for my dr and all the staff who assisted me on my journey to freedom ...i hope the other ladies would have a positive experience like mine ! keep calm and carry on ! life is precious think positively ! God bless us all !!! :)♥

Hi, I have my tvt in for about 11 years, and now that I am 56 and still enjoying sex, my vaginal lining is thinning now and because I had breast cancer and is not aloud to take hormones. The problem now, where the tvt sling is between my bladder en vulva, because of the thin lining, the strap cause not problems and I get an burning sensation. The gynae say I will have more problems if I remove it. I suppose it is no sex for me. Now what!! (South Africa)

I like to thank all of you who have contributed to the replies re-tvt. I have my surgery on 3 March 2014 which went very well. However I have not had any after-care or given any information about all the issues that you have discussed. I this morning I found a stitch and was worried and that's why I did a Google search to find out if this was normal or not. I now feel reassured that it is.

Once again thank you for your contributions and hope you had a speedy recovery

I had TVT 3 weeks ago. I was able to go home the same evening. Was check last week, and doctor said it looked good. But yesterday, I noticed a small boil under the outer edge of one of the external incisions. I'm on immunosuppression medication Remicade, and so at a higher risk of of infections. I have been taking 2 500mg Amoxicillian for about 3 years for control of skin infections, and also have topicals, mupriocin ointment, clyndamycin wipes, hibicleanse wipes, tea tree oil and oil of oregano. I put a little pressure under boil, and white puss came out of the end of the incision. I cleaned well with all the above topicals, and bandages with the ointment over night and most of day. I just checked it out again, cleaning it well, but seeing a little white in hole where the white puss came out the night before, putting a little pressure under it again but this time a piece of white thread popped out about a half inch. I plan to call doctor in morning, just reading up on it, and since I didn't see anyone else have this problem, just figured I would include it. I assume the thread it likely part of the dissolveable stitch, but since I am unsure, as it may be part of mesh, and also cause of the puss/infection, I just figured I should notify doctor. It likely will be fine, but he may want to prescribe other antibiotics or do corrective surgery. Hopefully this recovers quickly without his intervention. I'm very blessed to have learned how to treat infections and have all the means to do so, and to have a good doctor whom I trust.

Trust what your body is telling you, not anyone else, including your doctor. My beautiful, fulfilling marriage is ruined because of this defective material they put inside me. It did seem to solve the incontinence at first, but I couldn't figure out why I had so much pain and why I was so drained all the time. Finally, after my doctor telling me numerous times nothing was wrong and that I just wasn't virginal down there anymore, I discovered on my own that the sharp protruding object coming through my vaginal wall, giving me infection after infection and horrible pain was from the TVT mesh, not my cycle. It was embedded in my skin and poking through and still my doctor said I was fine. I was a young, happily married, mommy with so much energy before the procedure. All I needed was the truth so I could try to correct what was happening to avoid this from getting worse. Now after trying several surgeries to remove pieces of it, because it cannot be completely removed, I can no longer have sex with my wonderful husband. It is excruciating and we did nothing to deserve this. Yes, we will still be together and remain together but this procedure destroyed my ability to be the person I should be. I am exhausted all the time and I miss out on so much, I cannot be intimate with my husband because it hurts and is unbearable. I'm not sure he understands completely, even if he is good to me and patient. It breaks my heart, he deserves more, we both do. Think twice about this....hell just don't do it. I would never have this surgery again or any other corrective surgery because of it. Find natural ways to improve your health. I've ruined mine. Good luck and I hope this helps.
