see i've been reading everyone's blogs about their experiences with their tonsillectomy and i must say that i have not gone through anything "horrific" at all. i haven't felt any pain, even when i woke up from the anaesthesia. i only take my pain medication at night before bed so that it'll knock me out and keep me asleep. i've also been able to eat chunky soups and jello without any problems. the only downside to this whole thing is not being able to speak. but it's no big deal at all. i guess i'm just a tough person, but seriously this is not a scary experience at all. i'm a 20 year old female and i've experience true pain when my appendix ruptured over 10 years ago. i survived having a ruptured appendix for over a week before the doctors figured out what was wrong with me. so if anyone thinks that this procedure is terribly painful and a horrible experience, there are much worse pains out there. all i can say is suck it up and the "pain" will go away soon. and if you're reading this and considering not going through with the surgery b/c of the pain everyone else has gone through, remember that everyone is different, everyone's recovery is different, and everyone handles pain in their own way. as i said before, i haven't been downing codeine every hour i feel absolutely fine. just have a positive attitude and sit back and relax. it's no big deal!
Fantastic Advice ! Just be positive. Thank you so much for your contribution here. You are right. Everyone's experience will be different and there are many factors that can affect a person's experience. It's really good to hear more of the positive experiences. The best that a person can do is have a positive attitude and educate themselves about the possibilities. It is surgery and it is more complicated for adults. Thank you again for your valuable and encouraging post. It will help a lot of people.
