How come my husband's polyps came back after 65 years. That time he felt the polyps being pulled out, NO anesthetics of any kind.

Had them removed yesterday my right nostril was completely block and my left has just started to go the same way. I was in at 7.30 and under at 8.30 got home about 2 cause the right nostril was bleeding really bad was doing it all day. Probably explains why I am still feeling a little woosy while I am writing this. I had the disposable packs put in my nose which just felt like normal congestion in the nasal region the one in my left nostril felt out this morning which was well a experience to say the least not a bad one that's for sure I can use it again now. Thanks for this though nice to see someone else's insight into this.

Has anyone heard of polyvac hool it's a procedure to vacuum out the polyps in Arizona . I am scared now after your story but need polys removed. It is done in doctors office as a outpatient can go to work the next day waiting if anyone had this done judyk

Having Samter's Triad (aspirin sensitivity, asthma, and recurring nasal polyps) I've had it done numerous times, starting with a snare (just what it sounds like), and more recently with the vacuum cutter. The benefit of the vacuum for you is it tends to do a better job getting all the polyps. With the snare I'd sometimes have to go back to get other polyps that were packed in there but couldn't be seen, and could now fall down into the newly created (and needed) space. For your surgeon, it improves the view, which ultimately benefits you.
You will be astounded how much better your breathing is as soon as you packing comes out. The pain is very bearable. I prefer it with only local anesthesia, though your surgeon will probably want general, so s/he knows you won't move, and so "I can do a more thorough job not worrying about whether I'm causing too much pain" (and they can talk about you as much as they want).

I just had sinus surgery to remove several polyps. Also, 1993 and 2005. Not 3 months later, here comes another polyp. What can I do? I use a rinse with antibiotic, and flonase. My doctor was amazed.

I had the surgery 11/06/17 and all that Judith described is correct. PAIN PAIN PAIN. My nose and top lip is still numb and do not move when I talk. I still suffer with swelling to my face and eyes everyday. I still have headaches and I continue to take my prescribed tyneol 3 w/ codeine every 4 hours. My opinion, if it's not life threatening, I wouldn't have this surgery again. PAINFUL PAINFUL PAINFUL. Thanks Judith you described it the exact way everything happen without exaggeration.

My husband had this surgery 12/7/17 and your experiences mimic his except the surgery was 5.5 hours and he came home, luckily I am a nurse. He also hasn't had to have a turbine removed. She (the surgeon) said she was very close to his optic nerve and was afraid he would lose vision but he didn't. She took out 10 the size of fingers and shaved 50-60 more off! He has some smell some days, but the debridement is the worst. I loved reading your story as it was exactly what he was telling me!! Here's to no regrowth!!!

Hi I need nasal polyps surgery and reading these have made me a bit scared but I’ve become a mouth breather, I have cuts on my lips from when I sleep my lips and mouth get so dry it cracks open, I have wheezing and have to use an asthma pump to breath normally, i snore, and spit up and blow out large amounts of thick mucus .. I’ve tried steroids nasal sprays and pills which help them shrink but as soon as I’m done with prescription come right back .. I live is Las Vegas Nevada (USA) and have just lost my health insurance so I was just wondering if anybody knows around what it would cost for somebody with no health insurance to get this surgery..
