same thing happens to me and i first noticed it when i was in high school and its not very common to me though saying that ive gone through it quite alot of times, i'm 18 now and just had it, my dogs asleep next to me and his snoring even sounded like it was going extremely fast, im from england and once after having one i rang up nhs direct and the doctor that rang back didnt have a clue what was going on.......surely there should be some kind of diagnosis when its a relatively common case.....if it helps i think i get it more after a cigarette and its normally when im on my own.......i too have been searching online for years for answers and i really wanna know whats going on!!!!!

im actually really suprised i found anything like this on the internet. i distinctly remember two cases of this when i was much younger. i am 23, and both cases were when i was probably 8? during one of the cases i believe i was just getting over being sick and went out to the living room from my bedroom at night time, because of feeling odd, and laid my head on my moms legs like a pillow. i walked out and she was drinking something and it looked like she was in fast forward mode. she would say something to me and i would say "slow down mom! you're talking to fast!". and everytime i saw her take a sip, it was the same thing...fast forward. i kept telling her to slow down and she had no idea what i was talking about. this was a longer episode of the two and lasted for probably about twenty minutes. at least thats what it felt like.
the second time this happened was a couple days later when i was thinking "why the hell did that happen?" so on cue, i decided to see if i had some sort of control over it, and at this point i was getting dressed and pulled my sock on really quick and some how that triggered the FFWRD motion but this only lasted from the time that i pulled up my sock and for about two maybe three minutes afterwards. i JUST thought about these memories today and am kind of curious of why? how? what? im really blown away that in relation, alot of people that replied had experienced the same effects, around the same age, around the same time intervals. possibly I had an Alice attack, but i guess i never really noticed if anything was bigger or smaller due to the FFWRD affect being the primary.

I always knew im not the only one with this. Was only thinking that my case is rare. Since
no one arround me could understand what i am talking about. Not even the local doctors.
I remembered today about it and decided to google for it as i never heard any explanation
about the "Fast Fealing" i had.
I was never able to explain the fealings i had, and one time i tryed i got accused and
embarassed in front of my family at age 15 by the doctor that told them i was using drugs.
Wich at least you guys can bilive me i didint and never did.
Anyway as far i can remember fast feling started at my age 5 or earlyer even.. It was followed
by a nightmare i have used to have often for several years.
The Nightmare (it was so scary to me that i still remember it)
--------------
Phase one: A ride in some kind of elevator with some tall dark figure.
Phase two: Arriving in some kind of wast white space with one huge throne or box in front of me
looking appon me for some reason i cant explain.Evrything is white, there is no floor
or the sealing it is not a room.. just some kind of empty white space. The fealing
was like i was in another dimension or something and did feal real enugh to me.
At the same time i was terribly scared, like the part of me knew what it is and there
is a reason to be scared.
Phase three: The whole thing start to fall apart, like a pice of papaer that is burning away.
And after a short while i would awake, and when im a sleep again its not repeating
untill next night.
This was lasting for several years evry night.Untill in last dream i have decided to not awake and stay in for a while
the throne/box disapeared going under ground in that white space in phase 3, and i have never had the nightmare again.
The weird thing that this dream was followed by fast fealing wich i had now and then for next 15 years.
Fealing was the same as people here before me described, heavy hands, sometimes thick tongue and evrything
moving 200km/h. Ofcourse i knew its not, but to me it seamed like it. When i was younger i was scared of it a bit
as i never knew what it is, and what is happening to me. Later on i got used to it and it just stoped happening.
I am 29 years old now and havent experienced any in last 4 years for shure.
I bilive that nightmare and "Fast Fealing" are strongly connected in some way. As far i can remember
the nightmare, i can remember the fealing as well, and also bilive that nightmare was cause i got this fealing after.
Like post trauma of some kind that have took years to heal in some way.
Also while i was groving up i have become totaly fearless. Maybe thats the reason why i am the way i am.
Why i dont care about my self.
I just dont care. Like once i was scared for all my life and thats it. And had the Fast Fealing after as consequence.
God knows...
I also know what are you people going and have been trough and im also glad that this forum
exists. It would be good to see some professional posting something here about this issue.

When I was younger I'd get the fast feeling also. I'm now 31. I think one time I was sitting in school and it was quiet when I started to get the fast feeling. I also thing that things might have felt squishy, like a doorknob or my mom's hand or something. I think I may have also said something to my mom one time when I was having it. Maybe something like stop it. I now have OCD and when I was younger I got a concussion. The repetitive sound triggering it also seemed possible.

I've just got an episode I haven't got one for years. I'm 24 now and only having the fast time and loud noices problem at the moment. But i do remember when I was younger having symptoms as loud noices, fast time feeling, objects appearing further away then normal, things feeling bigger and smaller then normal.
Anyone an idea whats causing these episodes and is this something to worry about and get to a doctor with?

So I know this sounds like a broken record but I have been searching for this for years and I still have not found what it is called...if anyone knows it would be great thing to respond to me.
alright so, this has been happening to me since I was about 5, what happens is I could be anywhere doing anything and all of a sudden, out of no where, it's like someone pressed a fast forward button, and everything- television, people, myself, moves faster or more dramatic, but they talk fine...and then after awhile it transitions to where movements are still somewhat fast but sound is now more pronounced and dramatic but still fast and then if stops and it was bugging the hell out of me. It duration ranges from 5 minutes to almost 45 minutes and it's has been as frequent to twice in one day or 3 times in one week. I've asked all friends and family and nobody has this happen to them. They either say that I'm crazy or I just have anxiety. I've even asked while it's happening to me and ask if there is any changes in how I'm moving or speaking and everyone says that nothing is different about me.
I've never seen a psychiatrist but I have talked to my doctor about it a couple years ago (I'm 20 now) and he didn't know what to make of it.
So please, I'd be perfectly content with it if I just knew what it was called or the cause of it.

Just had one a moment ago. It lasted for about 8-10 minutes or maybe more. Was lying in my bed and trying to sleep when it happened as always. It's been a while since I last had this. I'm 33 right now.

Hi, I'm 18 years old. I thought I grew out of these random feelings, but I just had another one about ten minutes ago. I'm pretty sure it is one of the minor symptoms of ADHD. I have ADHD and have been taking medication for it, which could be why I haven't felt them in a long time. But I think my body is getting used to the medication and that's why they came back. Although it might be AIWS, I have never heard of it before. It might not be ADHD, but another psychological disorder because they commonly are occumpanied by other disorders. Maybe OCD or Bipolar disorder?

I am 17 and I have experienced these sudden episodes since I was roughly 6, I never told anyone as I thought it was just myself freaking out, or if I did no one made a fuss. It mainly happens when I'm on my own. I get this feeling that I'm moving at double speed whilst everything around me moves at normal speed. I find it very difficult to conentrate when this happens. Also, most of the time I feel as though I hear myself in my head and its as though all my negative feelings towards myself are being remarked to me and I am just trying to escape.
It was more frequent when I was younger and it tended to happen late afternoon and sometimes at night. I only came to look into it in more detail recently as they seemed to die out when I turned 14 with only one I can remember occuring due to it happening at school, they have started coming back every other month and I was wondering if anyone knew anything on the matter.
I have never liked this feeling and quiet often my parents found me petrified when I was younger, however that was mainly at night so they believed I was suffering from nightmares.

WOW! I wrote the original post and completely forgot about this. I also wrote another post on ehealth forum and completely forgot about that as well!
Honestly haven't seen this since my first post - I can't believe the amount of feedback this has got - reading through the majority of them has made me smile so much - so happy other people have found this and have shared their information! Feel like a little global community!
It made me chuckle when someone mentioned about superhero's I always hoped it was my mutant gene kicking in!
It's very interesting that the majority of people had it more as a child and less so now. I'm 24 and I havn't had the fast feeling in years but I reckon i'll still get a few more episodes yet! I'd second whoever said they kind of miss the feelings.
I can't speak for the people who mention links to anxiety or nightmares but mine have never felt related to that. I always found them really interesting - I never really felt out of control and i always felt I could get out if it easily after 10 mins or so just by distracting myself.
I definitely see similarities with people who got them before they went to bed - I do rememeber as a child getting them a lot when I was alone in my bedroom late at night - often concentrating on drawing or doing homework.
I will have a look into Alice in Wonderland syndrome but i've never felt the size thing - always just the speed/adrenalin aspect.
I've never been to a doctor about it because, like a lot of you I suspect, the feelings are sooo sporadic and not very long that it always seemed pointless going. It was more just curiosity than anything else.
I'm definitely going to print this all out now and show my mum - prove I wasn't nuts!

Hello all, I have been doing some research and I think I maybe close to a cause for all this!
I think it's something to do with Migraine Aura's - which I think is linked to Alice in Wonderland Syndrome.
Here is a link to the Migraine Aura Foundation - of which I have linked through to the symptoms involving time perception.
Other people on the site talk about it being linked very closely to migraines. Personally I can never remember my 'fast feelings' ever leading to headaches but later on in life I have definitely had problems with migraines and my mum suffers badly from them.
Do any of you have issues with migraines?
