Hi i know i keep posting but i cant understand it.

I sometimes get what every one else gets, but most of it is like um.. (How to explain) Well when you read a book create a mental picture of whats going on, well i get images in my head, i cant see them i imagine them of things like people moving fast and clouds and stuff moving fast and cars and stuff, but i know its not really happening.

Does any one else get more like that.

I would love to know. It has not been any where else on the wide web nothing about what im talking about at all.

Only this is very close.

many thanks callum

I am so glad to find this forum!! My son will be, too. He is 12, and has been having this "fast" feeling since he was probably 4 or 5 - at least that's when he started talking about it. We first linked it to blood sugar...when we stopped his bedtime snack (usually sweet), it seemed to stop for a long time. Now it's happening again, and at different times of the day (used to only be at night). He also had the dreams - not remembering them, but waking up terrified, shaking, vomiting even from the fear. Reading through this I just wanted to cry out of relief that it seems to be a somewhat common occurence. I had (and still do occasionally) the feeling of being "small" that some of you mentioned. I tried to explain to my son that sensation, because I thought it might be a similar phenomonon. Thank you all for sharing. I can't wait to let my son read this...and to finish reading it myself! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Wow ! I'd really be interested in what other people are telling you this might be. My only thought is that it's some sort of delayed reaction to something like a food maybe. There have been amazing results from research that has been done on food allergies, i.e. incredible changes in a child's behavior like temper tantrums, etc. Have you ever tried to observe a pattern to these episodes? Is there a common factor or event that precedes the events?

It sounds sort of like a hallucination sort of thing,
in which the Alice In Wonderland Syndrome thing fits with.
And I've had this feeling whilst on Ecstasy, but not normally.

i too suffered with this as a child but as i reached 17 they slowly started to disappear i have always wondered what it is. i often thought it too was related to low blood sugar or stress as a friend of mine said she had the exact same feeling before her GCSE's. it is releaving to know that we are not they only ones.

I can't believe other people get the same feeling! I too have had this since I was about 7 or 8, and they became much less frequent as I grew older (18 now).

But then it happened twice in the last week, once during an A Level maths exam where I couldn't think straight or concentrate for a good five minutes. I tried to explain it to friends afterwards saying that my own voice in my head got more and more urgent even though I wasn't short for time during the exam, and wasn't struggling with the exam either. The second time it happened this week was about half an hour ago. My senses were heightened, every little noise was louder e.g. the rustling of paper. The latter convinced me to look it up and I stumbled upon this site, and I read other people's descriptions whilst actually experiencing it!

I can't make it stop, but taking deep breaths tends to help. It never lasts for more than about 5 minutes.

I read on one of the links that this fast feeling could be linked with eyesight conditions.. I have astigmatism, don't know anyone else does?

I'm so glad I found this forum :-) thanks everyone, take care.

Hello,
I've just experienced this so called "fast feeling" while playing a video game with repetitive music (Sims 3 to be exact). I haven't had this feeling for over a year until now. I was really freaked by it. So I went looking on the internet and found this website. Hmmm looks like there is some kind of link between this and repetitive music mentioned by previous person.

I also get this, I feel as if all sounds around me quicken but I know they don't it just feels like they do. Sometimes, if its really bad everything feels like a kind of 'block' really hard and weird when I pick an object up. I hear my own voice in my head and it speeds up or when I'm typing on the keyboard it sounds like I'm a really fast typer. I don't get these so often now, I used to get them ALL the time when I was a little kid I'm 14 now.

Just experienced one of these and decided to look it up. I'm 17 and I get these quite often. After a bit of research I think its a combination of a thing called "Racing Thoughts" for the "fast feeling" and Alice In Wonderland Syndrome for the out of proportion feeling.

Looks like this is quite a common problem and not really well understood. Hopefully that means it's not a huge concern health wise. I too had this more when I was younger. Haven't had it for many years now, but experiencing an episode right now. Kind of disconcerting after so many years of not having it. I'm male 38.

I get this too!
I thought i was just really strange, but its good to know im not the only one.
For me its not others just my own movements and i feel like i am moving at an incredibly fast pace but in reality it is just a regular speed.

And i dont know if anyone else gets this too but i also, not a the same time, sometimes get the opposite feeling that i am moving really slowly when in fact its just a normal speed. it just feels really sluggish and i seem i be moving in slow motion but obviously i am not.

Is there an actual name or cause of these syptoms? i heard them referred to as a form of vertigo but it is just very strange, especially to slow-mo one for me.
So if anyone has any idea please let me know, thanks!

This is exactly what I get, the slow fast thing is exactly how I get it. Oh this is so weird! Does anything feel really like 'brick like' if you understand what I'm trying to say?

This exact thing is happening to me right now i don't even know how i am typing but it feels like a rush of everything and that i am typing a lightning speed. its like i know that I'm not physically moving this fast but it is sooo crazy. when im walking it almost feels as though I'm jogging. i have had these like every three months and ever since i was like 5... what is this? could it be because of so many things in life moving so fast it is your body telling you to slow down?

Hi,
My son is going through this right now. It really scares him. I am wondering how many of you have talked to a doctor about this (especially those of you in your 20's now). Is Alice Wonderland Syndrome and low blood sugar the only two possible causes? Also, just curious how many of you play video games on a regular basis.
Thank you.
