I am so happy I've found this thread! I've been having these 'spells' since i was younger (I'm 20 now) It's the most strangest feeling, when I've told someone they would look at me confused, i didn't think so many people would have experienced this weird 'fast feeling'! I'm so glad I'm not crazy! I've just had one about 30 mins ago that's why I searched for it, I found it hard because it is so hard to explain. I've tried researching it, but like so many other things there isn't one underlining cause! I used to have panic attacks and still do occasionally, I put it down to that! However, it would be interesting to find out if it is actually anxiety or something else! L x

I remember having these "fast feelings" when i was around 6 or 7. They went away for a while but a couple of months ago i experienced it again. I am 16 now. They have becoming more frequent and are now happening once or twice a day. I was sitting an exam last week during which i had one, which makes me think that it may have something to do with anxiety, but i am not entirely certain as i have them even when watching tv. I do not want to go to the doctors as i really don't know how to explain it and i also don't think it is a legitimate reason to go see a doctor. Has anyone here been to see a doctor?

Hi. I'm not actually the one affected by this fast feeling but my wife (she's 35 now), she told me she used to have these episodes when she's still a child (7-10 yrs) and like most of the people here on this thread, it has gone for a while and recurred later in life. The last time my wife has this episode was last year and she says it usually occurs when she's alone and in a quite place and would last for say 5 - 10 minutes but maybe beyond that if she'd not stop it. She'd felt all the environment is in lightning speed that even the words of a song in a radio, she could not understand because of its lightning speed. though, she haven't felt things became big or small, just the speed thing. I hope someone could shed light on this phenomena. I don't think, it's AIWS. coz it doesn't fit. its only the fast thing and nothing more

I also get this way. I am 20 weeks pregnant & 18. When I was little I used to have nightmares where i was in the middle of a box and this monster like thing would circle around me really really fast but everything else was normal or slower speed and i would cry so much i drowned in the box and I have gotten exactly what the first poster wrote but i dont know its a terrible feeling for me.

I just started getting these "fast feelings" about 2 months or so ago it made everything feel big and look small, i had to pace myself or i would be fumbling and running to do things sicne i felt like i had soo much energy in me it was bursting out. I thought it was because of hunger or somthing but it only went away with time.

After that certain things will trigger it but not as much as it origionally was. i have had this experience before around when i was about 8 or so close to when i slept. Odd thing is though is that if i think about it long enough i think i might be able to make it happen again on my own will lol.

I totally get these too, but you all talk about it mostly going fast. Has anyone experienced it when it all slows down? I also find that I am forgetting things and i get weird sharp pains at the back of my head, temples and forehead.

I'm 37 now, and while this used to happen to me a LOT as a kid, it hasn't happened to me in years. It started when I was really young, like 6 maybe. It only happened as I was falling asleep, but I always dreaded the feeling once it started. For me, everything sped up, but then I would also hear sped up sounds, voices (ya, sounds totally crazy, i know! Imagine how I felt as a kid) - but everything was going so fast and there were so many sounds at once that everything sort of scrambled together. I seriously felt like my brain was scrambling!!! What got me through it was the part of me that knew my body was calm, not moving, and that this was all just in my mind. I was terrified, though... never told anyone about it and I'm just wondering if anyone else has/had these sounds/voices that go along with the experience? As I said, it mostly happened when I was younger, only once in a while, and has steadily decreased as I've gotten older. It's been several years since i've had the experience...

Im so, soo glad i found this webpage... i was in the kitchen a minute ago and suddently i felt this "feeling" again, i hadnt felt it for years, so i started to get curious and looked it up on internet but as all of u say there isnt many webpages helping...
Its funny how all of you say that you had it frequently at a young age and now, that you are older you might had experienced once or twice a year, every single one of "us" has had it this way.
This also happened to me when i tried to sleep although i dont remember having very long episodes of it, maybe just a minute or two, and I dont remember getting them really bad, except for the times when i really wanted it to stop and it would just keep going.. its just really awkward. Every time i had this i tried to explain it to my parents but they wouldnt really believe me...they would just stare at me.
It was funny when i was listening to music, i didnt undertand how the hell things could go quicker and quicker, the good thing is that i new this was only happening in my head so i wasnt to worried about it..
I hope someone, someday figures out why this is caused and if there is anyway to cure it, mostly for those people who has really bad experiences with this.

my 8 year old daughter has just recently been describing something very similar to what everyone is describing as the 'fast feeling'. she says everything seems to be moving fast and even when she tries to go slow it feels like she is going fast and that even talking is fast. She also describes a dot with lines going really fast in her head ... does anyone else experience anything like that?

I totally know what you mean about the voices. To me is sounds like there are a hundred people talking at the same time. They're not saying anything in particular, just a bunch of sound.

Hi,
I have this all the time, i jsut finished one, so i thought id look it up.
When i told mum what was happening (when i was around 9) she told me it was from concentration to hard (i did alot of puzzles as a kid etc)
however, it has been happening alot lately (i am 19) and i find i am not concentrating on anything at the time. SO i am very confused, i hope it isnt more serious that i think, because i have been passing it off all these years thinking i was just nuts,
and i can tell you it is definately not drug related because i have never touched the stuff.

i love that this forum has gone for two years!
i thought i was alone. i just had the fast feeling so i decided to google it and see if i was crazy.
i remember getting it when i was a kid, maybe 5 or 6. the first time i got it i remember specifically. i woke up from a nap, i might have been feeling sick i cant remember. my parents were making pizza in the kitchen. i told my dad what i was feeling and he said its normal. im not sure if he's ever had it or i just couldnt explain it well. i've gotten it several times since then i dont remember any other time like the first. ive never experienced the big/small vision part. just my thoughts and movements seem extremely fast.
im at work so it made me really nervous that a customer would walk in so i closed my eyes and breathed slow and deep and counted to ten a couple times. it might have helped or was just waring off at that point.
i would LOVE to know the reasoning behind it! o.O

I am 44 now and I used to have these feelings when I was a little girl, my son who is 16 has just told me he is getting them and got his first 'fast feeling' when he was about 11. It used to scare the bejesus out of me when I was little and I have only had a few episodes as an adult and none now for at least 20 years. My son is not scared but I am scared for him mainly because I know what it feels like and I don't know what causes it....have I passed it on to him?, I don't know but I am going to take him to see a Doctor to see if he can shed any light...... %-)

im so glad this happens to other people!! it really scares me when it happens to me! I mainly notice it when I am in bed, and it often happens when I am really tired and have not had much sleep. I started getting this as a child as well, and now get it less frequently (i am 21). It only lasts about 5-10 mins and i can get rid of it sometimes by talking, singing, etc. I actually used to have the reverse as a child...things would seem like they were going really slow and be really small...as well as the fast one. Now I only get the fast feeling! I am so happy I am not alone with this...I hope someone can figure out what it is!! :-)
