I had my tummy tuck three years ago. I have horrible swelling in upper ab. I am miserable and I have no idea where to go. I went back to my surgeon and he just looked at me like he had no idea. I’m thinking about seeing a different plastic surgeon to see if it can be fixed. I haven’t worn pants that don’t have an elastic waste band for three years. I’m not sure what is causing it. Maybe scar tissue? Maybe the lymph nodes. All I know is that I paid way too much money to look worse.

Wow. I am having exact same problem. All 2md opinions want to blame it on interior fat but I know it is not. My quality of life decreased now with difficulty doing all the things i used to as you say. Would be grateful to connect with you to discuss further.

Girls, I would go get checked for either diastasis recti (or abdominal separation) or a hernia and also realize that it's now taunt at your tuck and if they lipo-ed you some any (minor) weight will bulge above your beautiful surgery and lipo-ed area, because fat cells were removed and the ones sitting above the new taunt area will enlarge-thus distorting. I had a wonder augmentation and lipo on my lower stomach, upper buttocks and thighs--then a surprise pregnancy! I destroyed the expensive work while creating a priceless

I have the same issue and went back to my surgeon, had a second surgery to make sure everything was still intact and it was. I still have the belly budge but totally flat below my belly button. So much money wasted!

Is your PS from Cairns in FNQ. I have the same problem and my scar is about 2.5 com wide. I lost my BB too. I’m sure the bulge is due to a lose circulation to the area.

Scar tissue, doctors won't talk about them. But everyone is different so some people can form lots of scar tissue and some less. The tissue can be the reason we bulge, why we feel there is a iron fist holding our stomach. The only solution is to have a good surgeon take a look and try to cut the scar tissue. But i bet he won't give assurances they won't grow back.

I had tummy tuck 3 years ago. 3 months ago (after gaining 25 lbs. my abdomen started hurting. Went thru family dr., gynecologist, urologist, gastroenterologist and many tests. So far the only thing showing up is a hernia, and I am now being treated for IBS. I have appt. with general surgeon next week about hernia and/or exploratory surgery. The more I investigate I am beginning to think the added weight is my problem? Anyone have similar situation?

I'm shocked by all the people on here who have had a tt and don't understand why their upper abdomen is larger. I had a lower body lift 3 years ago and have maintained my weight since. My PS was very clear before the surgery that the upper would be distended. Part of the reason is because it contains our diaphragm and they can't pull it too tight or it would be very difficult to breathe. He also explained it would be like a guy with a beer gut that sucks it in when the pretty girl walks by. Go look in the mirror and suck it in! You probably look like you hoped you would but if they did that you couldn't breathe!
