I have the same issue and my tummy tuck was 4 years ago. I have looked through posts, but don't see any replies. Has anyone found any answers on how to deal with this? Thank you!

I noticed an upper bulge after a few weeks of having a full tummy tuck. I lost 10 lbs but it still remains. The DR said to lose more weight! and that I probably have " intradominal fat around my organs .. so it's pushing my stomach out". Very disappointing after all the money and pain.

I had a tummy tuck four months ago; before my surgery the doctor told me that he could tighten my lower abdomen but my upper stomach would still be fat. in order to get rid of it I will have to undergo lipo, which I plan on doing once I have firmed up more. My complaint is that I feel very tight where the incision scar is. almost like there is a tight band around that area.

I had a tummy tuck and lipo on the upper stomach at the same time. I had lost 83 lbs. and had loose skin from having twins with a vertical scar also..I had a hysterectomy too so my lower stomach was awful! I was very pleased with the tummy tuck but the lipo.....there must have been some nerve damage caused it took me forever to get over that part. The tummy tuck was easy to get over. I had this done in August 2013 and all of a sudden my Surgeon retired October 31, 2013!!!!! I never even had post surgery care or anyone recommended to me! Since then my stomach upper that is bigger than it was before and I look pregnant I have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis and I seriously think he damaged the Vagus muscle. I have nausea every single day of my life and I used a inheritance to have that surgery and I don't have the greatest insurance so a $4000.00 hydoscan to see if it may be my gallbladder is out of the question. I just want to feel better and quick!

After all the complication you went through, why would you allow yourself to gain 40 or 50 lbs.? Makes no sense to me. Then you want to complain and blame the doctor. I say, suck it up, get your self on a low carb diet and call if a day! Let it go!

Thank you for that heartfelt disclosure. I too have the same problem with upper belly budge and the felling of being overfull after eating something. As the day goes by the greater the pressure becomes in my upper stomach. I too am afraid to eat because of this pressurized feeling. I had my tummy tuck back in 2007. I never had the lipo part of the TT, no one ever said anything about that being a part of TT. Years later, I feel so cheated. I hope all can get an answer as to why we are experiencing this complication. As sad as it is, I am pleased to know that I am not alone when it comes to having this problem.

I had my tummy tuck surgery few months ago from Lakeview surgery in Barrie. As far I didn’t have any problem and I’m satisfied with the result. My sister had tummy tuck surgery a year ago and she loved it for few months. After that she noticed her stomach was fuller and harder and she seems very uncomfortable. Now she is planning on to do liposuction and I recommended Dr. Guirguis from Lakeview surger as my tummy tuck surgery was successful. My question is, Should she go for liposuction or is there any other method? She is 50 years old. Does doing surgery again cause any other health problem for her?

I do/did Iyengar yoga which involves extreme bends using props to accomplish them. Back bends are/were absolute agony (even mild ones). Forward bends caused a painful 'lump' to pop out in my upper abdomen that I physically had to push back in during practice.
Two years ago I quit my yoga practice for personal reasons (one day I will resume it). And although I continue to eat the same a low carb/high protein diet I have gained 501bs. My eating system doesn't seem to work anymore (probably because I have lost lean muscle). However, I just can't seem to get back on track even with plenty of conventional exercise (walking, cycling, gym).
In the meantime I have developed the big upper abs, and a very hard area around my belly button (like a hard doughnut). It is worse at night, and feels like a fist pushing backwards into my abdominal cavity. My scar is horrible, and I have 'dog ears'.
My GP is sending me for an ultra sound to see if I have a hernia. If not I have to go for a Cat Scan. If it's scar tissue related I will need a surgeon.
My advice is to everyone, don't have a tt unless you really have to. If I could turn back the clock I would not have had it.
Thanks go to this forum for talking about dog ears (I thought mine were a result of poorly healed drain scars). And thanks for talking about visceral fat, I will research diets that help eliminate it.
I'd love to blame any other health problems on my tt, but I can't say I can. Mine are definitely about a strange and distorted (and most likely herniated) abdomen.

Don't take the Oxy (or pain killers) unless you feel like you are so uncomfortable you don't know what to do with yourself. I took 2 out of the 30 Oxy I had on the one day I was so uncomfortable. I also had three days of Celebrex straight after surgery, that was wonderful (better than the one time I took the Oxy) Don't use your pain killers for pain. Use them for the days you don't know what to do with yourself.
If anything else works (IE: booze but not mixed with medication, cookies, pizza, whatever you like to eat that makes you feel well) stick with that. In my experience having a full tt is not about pain (and oh yes there is lots of it) it's about having EXTREME abdominal surgery and no one preparing you for the fall out such as:
Not being able to sit up from lying down on your own. 2 weeks after a tt you need to be nursed by someone.
Pain combines with being very uncomfortable
Extreme weakness and lack of energy
Feeling like you are 20 years older than you really are
Fear of infection
The scar. What you are describing doesn't sound abnormal, but only your DR can tell you that.
Hope this helps
Best
