I hate accepting this situation, but after 3 years of battling with my original plastic surgeon as well as seeing 5 others for 2nd opinions, I am giving up. (see my post of 9 monhts ago for details).

The surgeon who butchered me and left me shaped like Humpty Dumpty says it's not his fault. (gee, just coincidence that I haven't even been able to keep underwear up wtihout an abdominal binder on since the day of surgery???)

2 other surgeons said there was definitely something wrong, but one felt the surgery would be too complicated for him to tackle since he practices alone.....referred me to a larger institution where they submitted to insurance with it coded as abdominoplasty which I will never qualify for as I'VE HAD THAT DONE. They were unwilling to submit it as something else or assist with an appeal.

My last stop was at Mayo clinic plastics.....where I saw a cold uncaring jerk who didn't even want to see my surgical records or anything else I'd taken with me. His advice after my 5-minute appointment was, "just live with it".

Due to being in the binder for so long, I have no back muscles, no stamina, and hurt al the time. The only good thing is that I recently switched to a new primary care physician who is not opposed to treating pain. (my previous pcp just told me to "not think about the pain"). Arrrrrrgh........

Do I care if I'm on narcotic pain killers for the rest of my life? NO, I don't care, because if I have to live with the pain created by the butcher that did this, my life is not worth living.

I look like a freak with my beachball upper belly, and there's not enough xanax in the world to make me calm enough to try and shop for clothes...there is nothing that fits.....but at least I am relatively pain free now.

Sorry to rant here....but I am so frustrated that there seems to be a "good ole boy" attitude with doctors not wanting to say any other doctor did something wrong.

I continue to watch this thread to see if ANYONE gets relief...

Cheryl, i am so sorry for what you had to go through. This is just not fair. Why doesnt ANY DOCTOR have an answer???? I just saw my 2nd PS in follow-up (I had endoscope muscle repair to fix my muscles that seperated above my BB in Nov 2011) and he said the internal fat is pushing my organs out!! LOL. WTF!!! Okay, maybe I can or should lose 10 lbs (baby weight) but I really wonder if this will help. He did also say there is definitely some swelling. I wish I can see pictures to see if people are complaining about the same type of problem I have. Its like sometimes it looks like I swallowed a egg and sometimes . . . its not even obvious its there. The minute i start eating ANYTHING . . . even drink a glass of water. . . it starts pushing out again !!!!!!!! OHHHHHH. . . I am thinking to see another PS for a second opinion too but I have a feeling, he will not have an answer.

Look up abdominal compartmental syndrome.  I think that's what you guys are talking about, and a scouring of the web seems to indicate it is indeed possibly related to an over-tightening of abdominal muscles... also more likely in patients who were not at idea weight at time of surgery (which I realize is not the case with everyone here.)

I am considering a TT, and this makes me really want to be sure I have the best surgeon I can.

We know from abdominal CT scans that I have a large amount of intra-abdominal fat (the bad kind).  Since I had my panniculous removed with the first abdominoplasty fiasco, in effect, it's removed the "habitat" for me to gain weight.  (my panniculous was over 13 lbs when removed).  After the 2nd botched surgery, I started gaining weight at an alarming rate, which was very distressing after working so hard to lose 165 lbs.   Unfortunately, my body, medical conditions, and medications all combine to make it "unfavorable" for easy weight loss.   At least now being on pain meds, I feel like I might have some hope of becoming more active again and lose some of the weight.  As for surgery to correct it, the consensus is that nobody can put back skin/tissue that has been removed....it's just the reality that I have to live with.

I am 40 lbs overweight (still from pregnancies), and trying to get to goal before I do my TT.  I wonder if this is more common with people who have BMI's over 30 or 31, but many people don't give their weight.

Kaka. i really do think you got a point. WEll, I had the TT LOL last year but (as I wrote above) I am left with this weird bulge. Its not the lower or anything. . . just the upper (above belly button). When I saw my PS couple weeks ago, he told me if I lost 10 pounds, I would have a "smokin body" THat's his words by the way LOL! I am working on improving my diet . . . long term too . . . and doing cardio every other day. I am 115 lbs so hoping to be maybe 105.

surely if you've had a TT, you know that the pregnancy pouch that hangs like an empty flap of stretched out skin (what I have) does NOT come off with diet and exercise!  In fact, the thinner I get, the worse it hangs.  And I am dieting and working out to change my lifestyle AND to have the TT.  I do not plan on going back to my old way of life.  But I also don't want to look like a kangaroo who has lost her baby - empty pouch.  I get the feeling there are some people here (not all) who had a TT as a weight loss measure.  Not a good idea, and not what I am planning.

Ya, I hear ya. For the record though, I NEVER had the TT for weight loss reasons. Trust me, what your talkin about with the kangaroo pouch . . . I had that. Also, my belly button was hanging like you wont even believe! I am not that overweight . . I am currently 115lbs but would love to be 100 or even 105 . . . my pre-pregnancy weight. Ya, no matter what diet and exercise one follows, the stretch skin wont get any better! All the best.

I had surgery in Ict 2012. My stomach is uneven, I have a donut shape over my belly and my upper stomach is bulgy. I talked to my surgeon and he said I needed lipo to get rid if it but I'd have to pay 3000. More money to fix his mistake. Not happy, family talks about how it didn't help and how you can't even tell I had a TT but I spent 10,000. I only weigh 120 but my stomach is still protruding on my rib area. I need help on what exercises I can do or effective bodywraps

Meme, you sound like me. I recent started eating better. I am allergic to wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy and have stopped it for the last 3 weeks. Although I feel better (my eczema is gone and my skin feels softer!)and lost 7 lbs, I still have this weird bulgy area. I am also on my treadmill 3 times a week. I also eat a little less. . . maybe 1300 to 1500 calories a day. I dont know how to load a picture on this darn site. I wanted to see what everybody is talking about to see if I have the same issue as everyone here. Can we share pictures? I wonder if its the same issue or not.. It definitely sounds the same. The protrusion is where yours is. . . the rib area.

I was a size 00 before giving birth to twin 7 and 8 lbs girls. Two years later I had lost all the baby weight and was a size 3. Excercised daily. I had loose hamburger looking skin but no fat. I also had diasis "stomach muscle separation." 3 years after giving birth I had a FULL tummy tuck. The dr. Said it was the biggest gap he had ever closed 12 cm. usually it's around 6. He said he stitched each stitch individually and stitched me 3x to get me "super tight." I now have a dimple about 1 inch below my breast. There is a bulge the shape of a small football between my belly button and breasts. The dr says he has never seen anything like it and wants to redo the surgery in 6 months. I feel devestated. I wear a "squeem" tummy binder an it helps immensely with the pain and will even keep the bulge down for a few hours even after taking off the binder. What is this hard bump? 1. Too tight of muscle sewing like a ballon? 2. Permanent muscle distortion from pregnancy leading to lack of flat upper abs, making them "bubble out?" 3. Not tight enough or need a MESH to keep the stomach muscles down? I have an ultra sound next week. I am 6 weeks past my TT and still in pain. My scar is also level with my belly button on the sides. Like a very deep U. Doc said there wasn't enough skin to pull down.

Twinmom I am so sorry you have to go through this. I know how you feel. You think your having the tummy tuck and gonna have great results and that will be that ! Trust me, I know it ! To me, it sounds like an abdominal hernia. Mind you, it could mean several different things as you have listed. OMG, you had a 12 cm gap, eh?! WOW. The ultrasound will give you a definitive answer as to what the heck is going on. Mine was normal except I just found out on Friday that my cortisol level is low. Hmmm. . I wonder if this is the reason to my upper abdominal fullness/distension. Oh and about the scar, there is someone that I know that has had a scar revision done and is happy with the results. I know, more surgery, right? Maybe look into it and see if you would be interested if it bothers you a lot. Its unusual for PS to do the scar like that, eh? Never heard of it and trust me, I did a lot of research and seen gazillions of pictures! Maybe it wont look so bad as it starts to heal and fade.
