I'm female, 16 and I have been getting these headache’s for 3-4 years now. They are like short bursts of pressure headaches that last for 15-30 sec. It’s like someone is hitting me with too much pressure. Sometimes my head also feels heavy afterwards, and I shake allot. They come anytime of the day, however they want. I have spoken to the doctor like 3 times but he and my mum keep saying its stress or because I’m looking at a screen too often. They say I should take paracetamol but they don’t understand that I can’t because it doesn't last so it wouldn't be any use. I get it on the top of my head, in the middle and the back, but separately - so left sometimes and then right other times. It really scares me now; I really want to know why it’s happening to me. I'm going to see an optician tomorrow to talk about the headaches so hopefully they can give me answer. I have been many times to see them and they just keep saying that it's just because I wear glasses. I started wearing my glasses about a year before the headaches started.
What I don’t understand is why nearly all of us on here are very young and are getting these pains. We can’t just be told to live it, sometimes I end up in tears because of how painful they are.
I say you should right down the time and date of when these headaches happen (this is what I have started doing), just encase you find an pattern. Go and see a doctor and optician – brag about the pain to, and tell them how worried you are, this is the only way they will take some type of action hopefully.

I'm 43, male.. I started having migraines & bad headaches at age 9 maybe once or twice a week.. around 18 yrs old they was 3 to 4+ times a week.. by age 22 I looked like a raccoon.. by 25 yrs old Dr Hallie Bell, Methodist Neuro Ridgeland MS got rid of them with an " overdose Treatment ".. over 3 to 6 months it made me sick as a dog but got me down to 1 to 3 PER YEAR !!
Now.. the past 2 weeks I started having 5 to 10 second ice pick headaches -1- time a day on the top right of my head.. EVERY MORNING and sometimes at night.. This morning it wasn't on the top right, but the back left bottom.. only time that happened.
In the past some of my migraines would start on the back rear bottom center half dollar size stabbing headache that wouldn't go away and would circle my head.. so that scared me a bit.

It's been a few years since I posted by original comment here and I thought I'd update you.
While the hormonal cream did seem to help me, I discovered that the cause something totally different: a deficiency in magnesium.
If I take magnesium supplements periodically, I don't get these headaches at all. In fact, I haven't had one in so long I'm not sure how long it's been -- 4 months, even 6 months, or maybe even longer.
Next time you get one of thee painful, short, headaches, try taking some magnesium. If this is the cause of your headaches, your headache won't come back as often, or severity of the headaches will lessen.
There are two formulations of magnesium supplements: softgels and tablets. I found the softgets to absorb better (really helpful when I'm actually experiencing a headache, as opposed to simply prevent them).
Don't go over the recommend dosage for magnesium without the supervision of a doctor (but standard dosages should help you, if this is the cause of your problem).

Hello , I am 62 year old male that has suffered from ICE PICK SYNDROME since I was 13. When the pain hits it is the worst terrific pain that is actually a nerve seizure in the brain for 10 to 30 seconds, and can occur several in a row. I have been to the best neurologist in the country and they have directed me how to minimize the occurrence of the events.
The nerve is excited by several substances CAFFEINE in Mountain dew, coke cola, pepsi. Caffeine in coffee and also in chocolate, yes chocolate.
The second substance is Alcoholic beverages. This is a very serious condition that should be taken serious by those parents with children suffering from this brain nerve condition.
The physicians "neurologist" prescribed GABAPENTIN , 300 milligrams and it works for me.
I feel a little worn like twitch in my temple before an event happens and will immediately take up to 1,200 MG at the first event. See a neurologist and don't suffer, consult a neurologist like Doctor Thomas Snyder ,Jacksonville Baptist Hospital for a consultation for yourself or child.

To this day, I still drink several glasses a day and rarely get 'assaulted' by the sharp pain / short headaches anymore.
