You need to take Cipro 500mg 2x a day for 30 days and FLOMAX 1 per day. Mupirocin 2% ointment / cream 3 x per day 5 days. For the pain, prescription Naproxen 500mg 2x per day.
If you've already seen a Urologist and they have cleared you, then you are MUCH better off with a Regular MD, get one and stick to that one only, don't Doctor shop.
P.S Levaquin does not work, yes even though it's a "quin" class drug, Cipro is the MUCH better choice.
Also, there is one other drug you want to get, it's a Urinary antiseptic, it's called UROGESIC, turns your urine blue, take it 3 x per day.
So get prescriptions for:
- Cipro 500mg 2x a day for 30 days
- FLOMAX 1 per day.
- Mupirocin 2% ointment / cream 3 x per day 5 days
- Naproxen 500mg 2x per day.
- UROGESIC - Blue Tablets 3 x per day,

I definitely don't believe the problems of everyone here result from one single mysterious infectious agent. The difficulty is that many microorganisms and viruses can cause persistent urethritis and associated symptoms and medical research in this area is limited and urologists often have little or no knowledge of the few studies that are available.

This was not Urethritis caused by a Bacteria. It ended up being Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis.
Can it have originated with an undiagnosed UTI, sure it could have and then any small amount of the 6 - 8 antibiotics I took could have cleared that up. But once the Prostate gets infected, even a little bit the "fun" begins. The first Urologist I saw gave me a non steroidal cream to put on it, of course to no avail. I learned that not all Urologist are the same.
I went through what most here went through in some sort of fashion, finally what this one particular Doctor did for me worked. Hope it works for some, most, or all of you. Remember one thing, A lot of Antibiotics have what's called a buffering agent, so you may feel better or slightly better when on them, but once stopped the symptoms "seem" to return. They actually never went away.
Also worth noting,
- Lubricated condoms or ones with a spermicide may cause a similar irritation reaction at the tip. To this day I cannot wear one of those, it can only be a normal dry condom with no lube, etc.
Some other things that I have learned
- No Vitamin C / Ascorbic acid, etc. This will definitely irritate things if you are having symptoms
- No Caffeine, causes pressure on the bladder, then transfers to prostate
- No Alcohol, ESPECIALLY RED WINE or Hard Stuff
- No Spicy food
- I have also been helped by B Complex vitamins, make sure that it does not have Vitamin C
- And get what's called HerpSelect Test, it distinguishes between both type, 1 and 2 just to be sure.
I did, mine came back negative.
I'm sharing what I know worked for me, and I hope and pray it works for you. For some it may be a glancing blow, and will go away as a one off. For most, it will become Chronic if not taken care of aggressively.
At 55 Mine is now a Chronic condition, mine stated when I was 30 years old.
I wish you all luck.

I assume that, even in most cases of abacterial prostatitis, a pathogen is the ultimate cause of the problem. But if no tests are available, or no doctor cares to perform tests on rarer pathogens, then no meaningful treatment is possible.
